hello i had contacted LG Canada about the LG Android update and this is what they said to me

Hello Eli, thank you for contacting LG Customer service.

Unfortunately there are no plans on an update until late summer 2011. At this time it is unclear what version the update will be.

will the lg c710h get the android 2.2 froyo update or the android 2.3 and if so when will we get the update the americans lg ally got it and they are practically the same phone and the lg optimus one got it and when i got my phone the optimus one the had android 2.1 and now it has the new android update why do the shine plus users have to wait

I wouldn't care so much about the update if it wasn't for so little support for this phone by any developers. There is only the one custom rom available, no custom kernels, so no overclocking, etc.

is the phone hardware strong enough for 2.3?

Short answer is no you will not be able to get 2.3 same as the ally (i use) lg uses a 3rd party driver or something crazy for the camera which makes it impossible for the carrier to release i guess. There may be a chance of a port tho, if you dont care about the camera.

I'm not so sure but bad news , i e-mail and call them about the Android 2.2 upgrade , and 3 person (Lg support) said to be it will be in the end of this year !!! I don't know why ! I think will have to wait againg

I find that hard to believe without any concrete proof.

According to the information I have available at this time the Shine Plus will be receiving an update to 2.3 in late September of this year. Unfortunately we do not have information from the factory regarding why one model receives an update but another does not.

Someone on the Android Forums has mentionned that the slated July update for this phone has been pushed back to September. Why? Why is it that you keep pushing back updates when the LG ally, a *very* close cousin to this phone already received their Froyo update? I had high hopes for this phone and the limitations of 2.1 are becoming bothersome, for example, due to the lack of App2SD. *PLEASE*, for the sake of everyone who's purchased this phone, release an update soon. We're growing cynical in our support forum about the support (Or lack thereof) we're getting from both Telus (Our carrier) and LG.

I apologize for the delay on the updates. However the September release date of 2.3 is due to both the development of the update and the process of approval by the carriers before this can be released.

I've moved to the Galaxy S2 last month... Beautiful device. hehe.

Still, my girlfriend has the Shine Plus and she really wants this upgrade. She can't install anything on her phone due to lack of space and no app2sd.

My old LG shine plus I gave to my gf and last week after nearly a year of service it fell to the bottom of a lake in a canoe accident. Long story. Maybe now the update will hurry up since my phone is gone.

Well, the shine plus was far from a developer's heaven even though its cousin the ally seemed to have a very active forum... Sad, but what can you do...

I'll believe it when I see it. In the mean time, I uninstall all kinds of stuff whenever there is a Gmaps update. I dread it every time.

Well I got the HTC desire that I got for her early this year and when she lost the shine plus in he lake she got the optimus one. No real complaints about it. Works very well for the price.

I went into the LGMobile Update program today, and low and beholf there was a "Start Updating" button.

When it gets to the Analysis screen, I got a warning to back up your data etc, continue "Yes/No"

Click on Yes

"Software update is not supported for this model"

This was how I got to LG-C710h-v10d.

Anyone else get this?
