Help How long does it take to charge!?

I got my inspire the day they came out and I've not had any problems until lately. I had my phone replaced because it wouldn't turn on. even with this "new phone" I am having tons of issues.. My latest one being the battery... How long does it take yours to charge? Lately mine has been dying while charging.. Even when it's off or whatever and just has the battery graphic on screen. It's ridiculous. I take it off the charger in the morning, check my fb and texts and its down to 80% from like 10 minutes of use. I got juice defender plus today and it didn't seem to help much. I already keep my screen super dark, I don't do much with it lately because it's always dying.. Is this something that htc or att can help me with or does it sound normal?

Definitely not normal. If I drain my battery completely it probably takes about 3 hours to fully charge if using the AC charger. If it's plugged into my computer via USB than it takes quite a bit longer. Only did that once so not exactly sure how much longer. I wonder if there's a particular app that's causing your battery to drain at such an extreme rate. Also, what is your display brightness set to? It's the display that seems to use the most juice. I usually have mine set at <25% and it still uses 80% of my battery. Also what is your screen timeout set to? Maybe you can shorten that.

Do you leave your WiFi on when there isn't WiFi available? I may be wrong but I think it may use more power if it's constantly searching for a network than when it's connected. Have you looked at Battery Use data to see what is using the juice? I'd check that to see if there is maybe some bad app you got running that's causing the problem. Also there's some issue with the Dialer staying running after making or receiving a call. But I'm not exactly sure how real the battery drain is from that. I've noticed that the Battery Use data reports it as close to 30% even when it's only run for a few seconds, but my battery isn't draining as fast as that would suggest.

I've had my Inspire for about a month now. After the "newness" of it all wore off and I just started using it as I normally would, I've been really surprised at how long my battery has been lasting. Granted I don't make or receive a lot of calls nor do I use it as a media player. Mostly texting and web browsing. But a full charge is lasting me close to two days! Today for example, I used it a bit more than usual tracking all the college football and US Open scores and quite a bit of web surfing. I'm at 14.5 hours on battery w/ 54% remaining. And this is just the stock ROM, OTA Gingerbread update, with WiFi & GPS on the entire time.

From what you describe happening there is definitely something wrong, either with the phone or perhaps just the battery itself. I'd recommend doing a factory reset and not reinstall all your apps immediately. If the battery drain still happens that quickly with no additional apps then you can go back to ATT and tell them to send you an new phone again. If the battery usage seems to be reasonable then maybe install one or two apps and use it for a while to see if the battery drains faster. If not, then install another app. Keep going until you notice a significant decrease in battery life. I know that's a major PITA but might be worth it to focus in on the problem.

Sorry I couldn't provide a more definite solution to your problem. Post back with an update on how you get this resolved.

thanks for the tips! It takes my phone 3 hours lately to charge about 20-30%. I don't remember having this problem with the first inspire I had, but they did have me keep the battery, so I think it would be acting the same. I don't have many apps on my phone right now because I did just get it and I'm embarrassed to say I don't know how to get my old apps back on that I had paid for, so I just have some basics.. :/

My battery usage looks like this:
Display 51%
Voice Calls 25%
Dialer 8%
Internet 5%
Cell standby 4%
idle 3%
wi-fi 2%
Facebook 2%

My screen is all the way down on the brightness level about 80% of the time, I'll bump it up a bit in the car and stuff where it's really sunny. My timeout is so insanely fast its annoying.. lol but I am trying to narrow down the problem.

I plugged my phone in around 11 last night at 29%, I had woke up around 4am and couldn't fall back asleep so I was messing around with it and in that time it had only went to 60-something, I woke back up around 10 and its in the 90s, but me casually using it even while its plugged in has dropped it back down to the 80s.

I think I am just gonna go harass the people at the AT&T store and make them replace my battery or something. My laptop has recently died and this is my only form of communication with the outside world LOL. I can't deal with it like this!

Sounds like the problem is the battery itself. Definitely see if you can get ATT to replace that with a new one. Also you may want to replace the charger & cable as well. Having the battery level drop while it's still plugged in seems very unusual to me. I've used many devices while they are charging and have never seen that. I ordered an additional USB cable from Amazon for about five bucks. One with the charger adapter is less than $10. Amazon.com: OEM HTC USB Travel Charger Adapter U250 / CNR6300 / 79H00095-14M: Cell Phones & Accessories The seller I got mine from is AccessoryOne and it's OEM and haven't had any issues with it whatsoever. Others have reported that some non-OEM cables have caused problems. And I don't think ATT sells OEM chargers/cables. Even if they did it would probably cost 3x as much.

And switch up where you plug in the phone. Maybe the outlet where you plug it in is loose and the plug falls out just enough to break connection. I had a CO monitor plugged into a loose outlet before and every now and then it would drop out just enough to trigger the alarm. Usually in the middle of the night. Now that's not fun!

Good luck.

If you open the market app and tap menu>My apps, does it list the apps you bought but not reinstalled? If not, I think you'll need to log into the web version of the market and push the apps to your phone again. I think the process would be similar for the Amazon app market as well. Of course you'll need to download the Amazon app market app first.

So I went to the att store and they are sending me a new battery and cord.. If that doesn't work I will get yet another phone. So hopefully the battery does the trick.

Oh and about the Apps, I logged into the market and it only had a few that I had paid for, idk what's up with that. The amazon appstore had the ones I paid for saved, but not the ones got through free app of the day.. Ugh oh well. Thanks again for your help :)

So you lost some paid apps? Just go to the Android Market and press menu, then go to MY APPS. It should list the ones you have dowloaded.
