Help Can't get USB to connect

I have tried
reinstalling kies
turning on USB debugging
wiping the phone
I have tried turning on USB storage.
I tried using all of my usb ports on my desktop and my laptop
Every time I plug in my phone, it my laptop says USB device not recognized.
I am running windows 7 64bit on my laptop and my desktop
PDA:I9100xwkf3
PHONE: I9100xxke7
CSC: I9100LUXKD3

Can anyone help? I just want to root my phone and I can't unless I can connect my phone to my computer.

my phone done the exact same at first USB device not recognized but after that message came up i waited a couple of secs and then tried to connect to usb storage and believe it or not it worked and has done so ever since,i am also running windows 7 64bit on my laptop and my desktop

I'm going to buy another microUSB cable, and hopefully that will fix the problem. Are the stock cables known to fail?

This is interesting. Might just be the case for you, but who knows? This could be the problem we are all having.

Keep an eye on things and let us know how the new cable gets on.

I made the mistake of getting a rocketfish CHARGING ONLY cable (who makes a usb cable that doesnt do data and charge? seriously.) and I matched the micro to mini convertor together with an old mini usb cable I had laying around.
