Help Four Desire s all randomly crash

Hi now on my third replacement phone from phones4u all just randomly crashed when using different apps or just creating a short cut i cant be that unlucky
the only apps i have are angry birds, geo cache, tripadvisor and tone picker and im on an o2 contract
Has anyone one any idea whats up i love the phone but the crashes although only everyother day on average is sometthing i cant live with as i need to know its working 24/7

There a few reports of phone's doing that on this forum. The reason why varies, and some people are able to resolve these intermittent crashes.

Possible causes are an app, faulty battery or faulty battery/phone contacts, loose battery, the recent O2 update (although on some phones, not necessarily O2, this has been said to stop/improve the crashes), an old or faulty SIM, a loose SIM, and overheating.

Personally, if you're on your fourth and you're getting the same problem, I'd go back to Phones4U and ask for a different make/model of phone.

I've been having the same problem, I'm on my third desire S at the mo and this one is now doing it after only 2 weeks. piece of crap really. I've been sending mine back to HTC directly. Waiting for my next one to turn up. I've totally lost faith now. I've tried the phone with no apps, with just a few and with about 30 apps installed, it still does it, it even does it when it's on the table doing nothing. Contract is up in a couple of months, will be going for another make!!

I'm with you. I don't have the same issues, but the phone really isn't fit for purpose, other than as a toy to show your mates down the pub.

I just never know on mine when it's going to start showing odd behaviour (basic stuff like SMS notifications suddenly stop working properly, or it gets stuck in a sync loop requiring Exchange email account deleting and recreating).

My all time uptime before I have to restart it, to temporarily fix one on other issue that's suddenly occurred, is 10 days. Normally no more than 5 days. It's just sooo unpredictable. Been back to HTC to sort another prob (new motherboard), but I'm convinced my probs are to do with sloppy testing of its in-built apps.

Having said that (some) others don't seem to get these probs. I've taken to calling it my "Disaster S" with "HTC Senseless" (which force closes from time to time too, by the way).

Stock (and over the air updated T-Mobile) ROM. The update helped but it's still not right. No plans to root/reflash it. I think I'll be needing my warranty again! And too many reports of this model getting bricked in the process for my liking.

I now come to forums like this for therapy ;-)

You have my sympathy.

Got another Desire S from HTC yesterday, what I sent back was a retail boxed with all original accessories, what I got back was a white box with "I'm Back" and inside was just a phone, without the back cover or the battery!!!-fecking morons. Emailed to complain and request they pick the piece of crap up and send me a new phone. Somebody phoned me from customer services apologising and said that I shouldn't have received that one (no shit sherlock), and arranged to pick up and said they would order me a new phone (should take about 7 days). I asked him about known faults with the desire s, like there was with the original desire. He told me that the original desire was overclocked, thats what caused the problems, whereas models after that are under-clocked. He wouldn't admit there was any actual known faults but said all smart phones suffer with crashes (not that i've heard). So not only are the phones useless, but the repair centre is aswell!!!
