I am thinking about getting a new SD card for the phone and was wondering if anyone had any input on which one they think is a good to get, or a good one they are using. Would appreciate it if you can put the description of the SD card(ie. Size of the card and class), price you paid, where it was purchased and how long you have been using it....Thx in advance.

From what I've gathered from other posts, you're looking for a 16GB (32 may be overkill) Class 10 MicroSDHC card. Kingston, PNY and others manufacture this. I've seen them at Best Buy for $50.00+, online at newegg or tigerdirect you'll probably get it for $30.00 or less.

I think the Class 10 is only really important because of the high transfer rate its capable of. If you aren't partitioning your card and moving apps and such over to it, it's probably not necessary.

(PS- The SanDisc and regular cards you see in Radio Shack and Wal-Mart are likely to be Class 2, make sure to double check the packaging if you're unsure.)

I'm actually on amazon right now looking at buying one too.

I'm not sure what you know so I won't make any assumptions...

Your EVO came with an 8GB SD card

The class is a measure of speed. The higher the class the faster things are able to be written/read from the SD card. Most posts I have read recommend at least a class 6.

Amazon seems to be a pretty good place to buy, others have recommended newegg.com. Personally, I have Amazon Prime so I'll take the 2 day free shipping.

i have a patriot 16g class 10 card i got from newegg for $30 and it is amazing. it is extremely fast and never had any issues.
I was actually looking on newegg and wasn't able to find that specific card, the one i found similar to that was about $50. Im gonna do what Rxpert mentioned because i have the free prime too, just gonna do some more research before i zero in on the one i want.
- The little reading i have been doing is that I'm reading the same feedback from alot of people saying that the class 10 is somewhat unstable and after a short amount of time the card craps out on them.
- i know the class is what determines the speed of the read and write of the card but im thinking about getting a 16g class 4 or 6 because ppl have been really happy with those and say they perform better than what the read and write speed that it advertises, and they say lasts them longer.

niiice, thx brze, btw how would i go about switching to a new card. copy everything to my computer and then just transfer it over to the new one after i have it installed and the phone???

- i guess what im asking is how should i prepare the card (ie format the card prior to first use) or just take the old one out after i save the contents on the pc, install the new one, transfer everything over and my phone should be good to go????

well ive been doing some reading and looking around on all the websites listed here and basically its all the same reviews. some say that they had no problems others say the sd card crapped out within a few months. i did see that sandisk has somewhat of a following and alot more buyers, but they too have had their problems. has anyone ever used a transcend card, saw it on amazon, got some fairly good reviews.

- also im willing to spend the money to get a good card, i just dont want to go for the cheapest 16g class 10 card i find....

no i just copied everything from my old card to the computer, replaced the old with the new card in the phone and then i partitioned my new card from recovery. after that was done i then copied everything from my computer back onto the phone.

so are there any downfalls to using a 32gb at all? i know it may be overkill but i dont ever want to run out of room and i really like my music and movies lol so...?

not sure of any downfalls but if you like your music you should get a few clouds and store your music on there. Amazon gives you like 5 gig and of course dropbox gives you 2gig. This way if you change phones your music is still on the cloud and all you have to do is sign in. Much better then having music on a card that gets damaged and you have to collect it all back again.

not for the first 2 gig and they also give you like 256 meg for referrals and stuff so i think i am right in saying that theoretically you can get up to I believe 10gig for free (Someone Correct me if I'm wrong) anything more and you will have to pay for it.

There is also ADrive | 50GB Free Online Storage, Online Backup, Cloud Storage that Gives you 50gig. and Microsoft Windows Live gives you like 25gig.

The only one I know that has an app is dropbox
