Is the Galaxy Note a hit or a miss?

I'm all for big displays on smartphone's and even bigger displays on tablet's, however is the recently announced Samsung Galaxy Note the perfect cross between the two? I'm interested in finding out everybody's opinion on this.

The Galaxy Note will ship with some really good specifications including a 1.4GHz Dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM and a SAMOLED display, however the inclusion of Android Gingerbread and not Honeycomb makes it slightly more smartphone than tablet.

Could you see the Note as the perfect product to sit in between your Tab 10.1 and Galaxy S II?

I personally am not interested in the Galaxy Note. I personally want a physical keyboard with my devices, so the Galaxy Note doesn't suit me.

It think that there will be a market for it. There may be people who want to use a stylus or want something that big and accept some limitations on portability. I do not feel that the market for it will be as big as other devices. I do not think it will be amongst one of the more popular devices. I see no problem with such a device as I do feel there are people who would want it even though I am not one of them.

I personally wouldn't be interested, but it looks like a nice device for some folks. I have a 15" laptop, a Galaxy Tab 10.1, and getting a GS2 with a 4.5" screen, I don't need anything in between.

The keyboard dock was the reason I got the Eee Pad Transformer. If Samsung made a keyboard accessory for their Galaxy Tab 10.1, I would consider it.

As for the Galaxy Note, I may consider it if it had a slide out keyboard like my Desire Z. I keep my phone in a belt holster, so the size may not be an issue for me if I can find a large enough holster for it.

Either this or nexus prime with same specs.

First option would be nexus prime on At&t. Then samsung note. I don't own a tablet, so this as a second option is very viable.

I suspect that the ones for the Galaxy Tab would be similar. The additional battery pack and standard ports swayed me to get the Eee Pad.

Ahh right I see where you're coming from. Well the EEE Pad Transformer is one of my favorite tablets if i'm honest. The Note just seems the perfect size to stash in my car.

I am going to get the Galaxy Note to replace my phone and tablet. For it's 5.3 inch screen is large enough not to need much orientation and zooming for web browsing, yet small enough to be a pocket-able phone. Also, the fine-tipped stylus is great for selecting small screen items thus reducing further the need for zooming.

Yep, this can replace both tablet and a phone, so I could just shift my Galaxy S II and Asus Transformer and settle for one device which I would prefer.

It is not too big to work as a phone or too small to work as a tablet. However, if you want a small phone and a big tablet then you will need to buy two devices which will cost a great deal more and you will lose the portability unless you carry them both all the time.

Allot of people used to say 4" was too big for a phone, some still do.

People are moving to larger phones to make it easier to use the Internet whilst keeping it pocket-able. The 5.3 inch size is close to the pocket-able limit and the high resolution screen combined with the stylus probably makes the Galaxy Note as usable as a 7 inch tablet. Soon, Apple will follow Samsung and others and increase the size of it's phone but in small increments to extract as much money from users each apdate.

I'm interested since I don't want to buy both a tablet and another smartphone, so this looks like a great compromise with some pretty awesome specs. The only drawback is timing as I'm months overdue on my OG Droid upgrade and this may not hit until 1Q12.

Personally I don't get this tablet/phone discussion. My solution is a nice big quiet tower case, with a perfect keyboard, (or three - I have to deal with many languages) plus a big monitor, and a fancy pen tablet....and for twittering and quick e-mails a delightful little Samsung phone. Done and dusted.

This. It's approaching not pocketable, but I think it's not quite going to be a problem, unless you're into supper skinny jeans. I'd consider moving carriers for this actually. I like a really big phone and the resolution and processor make it a no brainer for me.

Im already saving money for it, estimated $1000 price tag. The stylus is what will sell me. Being able to take a note really fast is what I want.
