Root how to get back system apps

So instead of freezing my system bloat apps like kindel and NASCAR I jusy hastily uninstalled them. Bad Idea?? Is there a way to get them back.

think you need to wipe cache & dalvic to ensure programs are not trying to access them. i removed them with no problem

You can wipe cache and dalvik cache and reflash the rom. Or unzip the rom and pull those apps out and install them.

would you mind being a little more specific on how to go about doing that? (sorry i'm new to rooting)

i removed something (i don't know exactly what yet ) and now i can't add direct dial shortcuts to my homescreen.

Are you on a custom rom? If so......do this

Boot to recovery
Wipe cache
Wipe Dalvik cache
Reflash your rom
Reboot

yes, i'm on MIUI 1.8.26. i've done that process several times. no dice.

maybe i'm retarrded and MIUI doesn't have an option for Direct Dial shortcuts, but i'm thinking that it DID have the ability to do so, and that i just removed it when wiping out the wrong apk ???

well in theory when you wipe only dalvik cache and cache and re-flash your rom, it will flash the rom but keep your data and settings. so it should have added whatever you removed previously. try doing a full wipe and reflash the rom again.

You also could try to reinstall specific apps from adb or terminal. I know akazabam had an awesome thread on how to extract files from nandroids. I'd give the link, but I'm not at home and don't have my bookmarks It's pretty simple, and then you'd do the adb command to install, which I think just goes something like this...

adb install app OR adb app install

Sorry, I don't recall the exact syntax, but I think it's pretty simple. Of course, wiping cache and davlik and re-flashing the rom would be just as easy, and it'd work out any issues that you may have, which may have not yet presented themselves.
