Hi everyone!

My D3 will arrive to me tomorrow afternoon.

I know rooting is something you'd recommend, but before that, I want to see how it is stock.

What is the first thing/app you'd recommend?

I already play WWF and Angry Birds haha.

So post it here... recommendations for this particular droid!

Thanks in advance!!!! Super excited to come to the real land of the droid lol

I mean, any games/apps you find suiting works. Here is what I would personally do.

Launcher wise look at Go Launcher Ex and Launcherpro I personally enjoy Go Launcher but you can try them both out.

Messaging apps you can choose Handcent, Go SMS pro, ChompSMS or the stock messaging app its all a matter of preference.

If you want to be able to play GBA,GBC,SNES,N64,PS1,Genesis etc. on your Droid download the emulators from Yongzh at his SlideME market page: SlideME | Android Community and Application Marketplace

If you want a battery save you can check out Juice Defender

If you want a music player app the one I use is Doubletwist, but there is a lot more its just a matter of preference.

Appbrain app market can show you the top downloaded apps for the day/week/year/ever, and thats pretty helpful.

and the last thing if you want more info about games/applications check out their respective forums here.

Just received my replacement phone... my d3. Yes it is a CLN....i examined every spec of this thing and it's cosmetically perfect.

I am formatting my Samsung's SD card because VZW said to keep it for my d3. Once this is done (takes FOREVER), I will put it in the new... i mean like-new phone and see if mechanically it is sound. Hopefully the person only returned it because of the blue pictures I keep reading about, and the phone is sound otherwise. Maybe it really works altogether!

I'm a bit nervous it's a POS but my fingers are crossed......

Im suprised there are CLN phones considering moto is having trouble keeping up with demand.

With a newer phone like the D3 you can usually push the issue about getting a NEW replacement rather than a CLN phone. How long have you had the phone? Past the 14 or 30 days? Also, what was wrong with your first droid 3 phone?

Well I had 3 Samsung Droid Charges (random reboots, overheating, locking up, losing G service, bad amoled screen --- blue or green or so dark, even the settings didnt change it), and when it switches from 4g to 3g it reboots too--- all in 35 days and VZW wanted to replace the Charge with another one. I went to VZW store and the phone failed in front of a manager (all of the above happened!). That's when they said I can have what i want and gave me a list of DROIDs.

it's a CLN because i had the Charge beyond the time they'd give you a new phone anyway.

I was surprised there was a CLN for the droid3 but i think maybe the person didnt like it because so far it's flawless.

ah yea that sucks about the charges but what do you expect from samsung .

As for Verizon's CLNR phones, from what i've read and have been told, the CLNR phones actually go back to the specific manufacturer of that phone. So motorola's QC could be different from Samsungs, which i believe is true in this case. Moto CLNR's are usually good.

Now its getting a CLN phone through the asurion insurance you want to watch out for. Those phones are so bad its not funny. That insurance is a joke.

yeah my D3 arrives tomorrow... im worried though. I am super, and i mean SUPER anal and ocd about my smartphones. One dead/stuck pixel, a piece of dust under the glass, or a very VERY off balance accelerometer and it goes back. I demand perfection. Im not spending 500 for a phone that will have major flaws as that. Hopefully moto, who has always had good quality control, has stepped it up a knotch making their QC even better. We're getting in to super high tech phones now, letting pittly BS like dead pixels and dust under the screen slip under the radar of quality control is unacceptable.

So heres to me hopefully having a decent phone tomorrow.

I guarentee you'll have a good phone haha. The accelerometer can get a bit annoying I've noticed. Some times it doesn't recognize I have the keyboard slid up, but it might be Go Launcher.

Ghost,
Although i couldnt tell you EXACTLY what apps i had open, i can give u the idea:

i was installing 8 or 9 apps from the market at the same time, while uninstalling a few things, moving things to the media area, and not being used the the touch buttons on the bottom (my samsung had actual buttons), i was touching those while i was doing the above, not realizing it, and the phone said "nope dont think so". these things were all going on at the same time.

haha it all downloaded and cleared itself and i have been more careful so i think it's ok now.
