Just wanted to let people who are new to rooting and flashing about something I figured out.
I rooted my phone about 3 or 4 weeks ago and the first week i stayed with the stock rom. my Battery life stayed about the same. Then i got into flashing roms and noticed that my battery was only lasting about 5 to 6 hours. This made me start flashing kernels and set cpu and trying all different combo's. still maybe 7hrs at best so then i decieded to try aosp roms because i read about crazy battery life with them but never realy got the time to completely set them up and nandroided back to mikg2.xx and golden monkey1.1.
Well this week i havent done much with flashing and realized I wasent chargeing my phone all day. This is when it hit me that ive been using my phone like before i was rooted.
example: today Ive done about 50 text, 5 or 6 phone calls, about 20mn on web, checked facebook 5 or 6 times, took 3 pictures, and looked up and used navigation for a 30min ride to a hardware store, Also i have people, weather, calender, text, calc and book mark wigets on.
Im at 11hrs 29mn on battery and still have 42% left. So I now blame the bad battery life on me having all this fun checking out all the great roms and kernels out there and not giving the a chance to give me any kind of good battery life. Sorry this is so long but i just wanted to share and say dont blame the rom or kernel so fast it might just be you enjoying this new found fun.

Totally agree, I've been flashing roms like a mad man and have now settled down on one and have seen my battery life increase a lot, I've been getting around 16 hours a charge on average and I use my phone quite a bit throughout the day. My current rom is [ROM] TEAM NOCTURNAL [MIJJAH74z{KINGED}MERGE] Sense 3.0 & AOSP Collide Beta 2, which also runs goldenmonkey 1.1 kernel, such a good rom my favorite so far.:D

That's a good point... I was just thinking the same thing 2day... Since i rooted, i can hardly put the phone down... No wonder my battery life is no better....lol. I will say tho, even w all the playin and flashing, cm7 still gave me
better battery life than i got on stock without all the playing/flashing....
Yep that was what I was doing. constantly playing with something on the phone then thinking the new rom was the cause but it was me. LOl

Turning off data when not using it changed everything for me. 14 hours with 10 percent remaining. Unrooted LG Revolution

Wish i could, but where i live i get no signal (roaming or not) so I use Google voice for my
txt'ng, so w data off, when I'm not on the wifi I would miss a lot of txt's....

One other thing ill say about battery life..... Don't judge how long u will get out of it,till its dead.... Mine drops from 100-50 rather quickly, then slows a bit, I swear the last 10% lasts longer than the 1st 70%.....for me... Iys like the gas tank in a car, top half gets 150mi, bottom half gets 250+..... Except my battery is not shaped like a funnel ;-)
