It is not the htc inspire.. and the inspire will not get sense 3.0 or 3.5. The phone you saw is codenamed HTC kingdom. It is bot out yet because if the bugs it still has. The phone you saw was a prototype. XDa_developers tv.... Has talk about this phone. The only way to get any upgraded sense, is by installing a custom ROM.

Custom roms are the *only* way to go. You choose what features you want and get all of the cool stuff LONG before HTC and AT&T feel like sending it out as an OTA update...which inevitably also un-roots your phone.

Er off topic, what is the latest root software for the inspire with gingerbread update? Been reading the root thread but got crazy confused on what to use. Easiest one pls and the one with least problem.

Thanks!

Take a look at this thread - [REF] ALL ROMS | ROOTING | FAQs | STICKIES | POSTING RULES | Read Before Posting - xda-developers - about a quarter of the way down is a sub-section called Guides | Rooting: (The guides to the basics) and in that section you should find what you're looking for.

A word of caution though, watch yourself on XDA Forums, they have very strict rules about postings and are not the nicest people sometimes. They are a *fabulous* source of information, but take themselves entirely too seriously and sometimes get all riled-up over an innocent question whose answer they feel can be found by searching the threads.

Good luck! :)

I'll be honest with you, I've rooted five android phones and the Inspire 4G was by far the most difficult of them all. I am no tech expert, but I'm reasonably competent when it comes to rooting. None the less, the program that I used - "Bubby's 1 click" - was an absolute *bear* to get through. They may have come up with newer or better versions since March, when I rooted mine, so check around for the easiest version - unless you're very familiar with rooting android phones and feel adventurous.

Good luck - rooting really *IS* worth the effort. :)

The Inspire is one of the first phones to get the new upgrade according to many other Android sites.

Where has it been said that the Inspire will be the one of the first to get Sense 3.5? I'm not aware of any phones getting it officaly yet except for the unreleased HTC Bliss.

The Desire HD is getting offical sense 3.0, no idea if the inspire will but it should.

for those who are rooted look up the RCMix Bliss rom. ive been running 3.5 on my inspire for a little less than a week. personally i like it, its not a big change from sense 3.0 but its still nice. The rom itself is a little unstable (my phone wont wake when i press the power button sometimes so i have to pull the battery, things like that) and i believe they said bluetooth isnt working either. im on v1.3 dont klnow if theyve updated it yet havent had the chance to check but i thought id give anyone whos interested the heads up its worth checkin out.

Edit: Would post a few screenshots but i dont have that privlage yet :(

Edit 2: h**p://www.forums.acsyndicate.net/showthread.php/2267-ROM-Sep-04-2011-RCMix3d-Bliss-v1.3-The-Original-android-2.3.4-incl.-sense3.5-OC

went ahead and got a link for you guys. if anyones wondering you can overclock to 1.6 ghz max the rom itself seems to run nicely other than some of the problems i mentioned earlier

This rom is based on Bliss WWE ruu

The Desire HD and Inspire are the same phone, different market versions.

I'm not sure that I understand your point. Are you saying that AT&T would have some objection to an upgrade for the Inspire? If so, WHY?

-Mike

It isn't that they object to it, it is based on their work schedule and how much work it will take them to send out the new update.

Motorola Droid's only got the GB update like yesterday.

Yes, but that phone - the Droid 1 - is pushing two years old. I'm surprised in some respects that Motorola & Verizon are still supporting it.

Concerning the rooting statement, the best by far is Ace Hack Kit 12.3. There is no need to use anything else, it is not worth the trouble. You simply follow the manual that comes with it that gives step by step instructions. You can't mess it up as long as you FOLLOW the directions. I have rooted numerous Inspire's with it.

Agreed. And...

The latest version of Runny is absolutely amazing, and integrates Sense 3.5

Highly recommend if you want that Sense 3.5 experience on your Inspire.

[ROM][Oct 28-2011]RCMix3d Runny v3.3 [Official runnymede sense 3.5 Android 2.3.5][OC] - xda-developers

I liked the runny ROM, but I had some issues with the browser, and occasional locking...back to android revolution.

I do like all the detail they've put into that rom though! Its really a good one!
