Root Rooting My Charge

Ok I have seen so many ways here to root this phone but not actual step by step ways,

1) I would love to know what files are needed and where to find them on sites I have had people point me in the direction of sites only to get all confused cause these places have 4 to 10 download links, of all kinds of rom stuff first of all whats the best one to use I just want someone to send me a download link for that file, or those files and what it does, also if any other files are needed, I was told all I need is this file

Full Odin for 1.9.1 + imnuts OTB kernel + working blue imnuts CWM This is a full Odin and will wipe all user data.. It will also complete the lagfix by converting you system to EXT4 on first boot.

is this right, dont I need this file to GummyChargedFE 1.9.1 do I install this on my sd card. it wont open on my computer

2) whats the first step to all of this can anyone walk me through it.
3)after will my gps, market and maps work. will this change any settings like how the phone rings or connects I don't know.
4) after it is rooted do you skip and not install any updates Verizon sends you. I get so many different stories about all of this
5) will my ram and battery be better It shows I have 320mb and use 290mb don't like those numbers seems very low.

All I wish to have is the files and a step by step way. I get lost in all these well you have to do this then that they send you here and there and there is no direction.
can anyone just give me a step by step way..

Thanks

Just what I was hoping to find Thanks a million only ? is should I use GB 2.3.4 de-bloated I dont want verizons crap on my phone, can I flash it with the gummycharge instead of the GB...

Most of the links were bad in that page. so I'm kinda Leary to go by these directions, not saying its your fault just don't want to put something bad in my phone.. hope you can understand

Which items do you still need?

Basics are Odin, Drivers and finally ROM of choice.

Can you explain these below for me, if you have time can I use the ones below I seen a youtube video on this and it seemed to easy. the screen shot below are the files I have downloaded if you are familiar with any of them which ones should I use oh and what about my SD card should I make some kind of folder in it for anything, all of this is confusing but wow it looks so easy to do.. should I take the sim card and SD card out have been told I need to do this, is this correct...

Those are old links, which is why I told you to substitute the ROM of your choice. You want the Odin download and the Samsung driver download from that link.

Install the Samsung driver
Unzip Odin and place it somewhere easy to find

I personally am running the EP1W Bloated Leak from here (the debloated ROM is having some issues and I prefer to freeze the bloat I dont want myself)

Droid Charge Gingerbread (2.3.4) (EP1W) Leaked - Official Build

If you are wanting the 1.91 Gummy Charged ROM,. Unzip it and place it somewhere you can find easily (like the desktop), follow the directions in my first link and use the Gummy Charge ROM instead of the Gingerbread one that is shown in the tutorial.

Take your time and read the directions thoroughly.

Do you guys recommend this, this is kind of what I was looking for

Only thing I was wondering is when do I install this, this is the only file he does not mention when, and how do you install it if your rooted already to install.

NEW! EP1W Modem Firmware Files (MD5: FD02E32FBBDF2614C28019F6DEA291B7)
This is a set of leaked modem firmware files that are said to help improve 3g and 4g performance on the Droid Charge.

Hi, I followed this guys way to root all seamed OK but one thing the EP1 Firmware when and how do you install it. he did not explain it did I mess up, also seems I am running into some frequent reboots is gummycharge2.0 a ok ROM from what I have been reading seems ok a few bugs here and there, also how easy is it to wipe and flash another Rom like 2.3.4. Gingerbread have heard issues with that as well. I dont know I do know my phone is faster and has more ram etc. any pointers would help thanks.

Another ? is this one he says

Note: If you are planning on upgrading the kernel in GummyCharged 2.0 to say, a newer version of iMoseyOn's leanKernel, it is best to boot the phone into the Android OS first, set the phone up, then boot back into CWM to flash the new kernel.

iMoseyOn's Lean Kernel for the Droid Charge with Voodoo Support (MD5: FF0B7A4E952538E2ACA65CD5A1568D26)
A newer version of the kernel included in GummyCharged, version 1.2.2.

When and how do I install this I'm confused in how to boot into android as he is saying. Thanks man, any answers or ideas would be grateful.

Seems like I'm going to have some work to do in drawing up some more instructions. For now, I'm going to sleep. It's 1:30 AM here and I need sleep. I'll write the instructions (in the morning) up on how to flash the new kernel to your phone using CWM.

As I said in the other thread, I'm only one guy trying to help out the community that helped me root my Droid Charge. I feel as if it's my duty to give back for all the help they gave me.

I've written up instructions on my page. Check it out again.

Wow I dont know about that newer version of the kernel man my phone would not boot just kept flashing samsung every min, afterwards also battery was at 94% when done maybe 15 min total of working on this to get my phone back up battery was at 20% wow something sucked the day lights out of it.. I took it out just would not let me boot back into phone did restore all fine now.. recharging battery now.. with power off. ? why does my phone say verizon logo when shutting off didn't do that with gummycharge2.0 now it does. it would go off like an old TV screen..

You did a good job thanks.. its very explainable

There are obviously some folks in this thread who live and breathe 'rooting', they KNOW what they are doing. And, then, there are folks like me here who love to just get more out of my phone, and people like me realize that the only way to do that is to root. Still, the two camps are worlds apart.

What I would love to see is a conglomeration of the different tutorials listed on here. Get a phone in the hands of someone like me (I have a two year IT degree but that doesn't mean a whole here, LOL!!!) to go from the state that it was in when it was bought brand new from Verizon, to a state where it looks and behaves as it is capable of ....... all in ONE TUTORIAL.

Maybe I'm asking too much, if so, my apologies.

trparky has been working on something like this (he's got a link somewhere) and it's been on my to-do list for a while (unfortunately working about 70+ hours a week at my real job for the past 3 or 4 months).

We all want to be able to get the most of our phones but at the same time we want to make sure that any information we give is fully covered and still teaching everyone what they are doing (i.e. rooting is useless if you come across a "simple" problem, panic and ultimately brick your phone). For lack of better words or analogy, it's like giving someone quick directions on how to drive a manual transmission vehicle and then throwing a $200k sports car at them. They'll need some understanding of what they are doing before attempting it themselves (i.e. a DETAILED tutorial).

Of course... each phone is different and it may also vary by software build (EE04 vs ED01 vs EP1W).

In the meantime. Feel free to shoot any of us "rooters" a PM or post a thread and we'll walk you through it :)

Thanks to

Chris2183, Kelmar, trparky

I now have a rooted my droid charge phone and love the feel and look of it, I'm running Gummy Charge GBE 2.0 using GO Launcher EX with Honeycomb GO Launcher Theme, Memory booster light, Juice defender, Swype 3.0

I didn't like my benchmarks from using Quadrant I got a 1382 when on mobile data and I got a 1290 when on just WIFI when having both on in which I don't think you can do I ran a 1317 I'm wondering how I can make these better when I hear people getting over 2000, heard this is really not a big deal but I will say my battery wow what a change I can go all day on a full charge using text, calls and even used GPS once, a big or should I say huge improvement in my battery... if there is anyone else that can give me some power tips would be wonderful...

Thanks To The Guys Mentioned above;) I have a cool running phone now.. I like this better then my HTC DINC,

Any inputs on the new thunderbolt 2 coming out??????
