Help Camera Shutter sound Change/adjust/remove?

I've searched the phone through and through and can find no option to change the shutter noise or even adjust it. Has anyone figured out how to do this? And WHY for god's sake did Samsung/Android not have a built-in option for this type of setting?

I can see several reasons for having a sound, but really, no option to adjust or change the sound is pretty short-sighted.

Update the firmware through KIES and then put the phone on silent mode, viola no sounds!

I've been holding off on updating the firmware because of bad experiences with past phones... once bitten twice shy...

I know it's not the same as rooting but it will have consequences (good or bad) that my limited experience may not be able to rectify.

I'm with Bell Mobility Canada if that matters and Kies says my version is not updatable.

Really no idea why that image is showing at all =/ Is it rooted or changed in some way? It should say you have the current version there :S

Try asking on XDA?

seems like ur phone is rooted because i'm also in canada with fido but i'm on kf u r on kg

as for turning off camera shutter, just mute system sound

My phone is fresh from Bell and not rooted. Also, I've muted each of the several types of sounds and none of them affect the camera shutter.

And as of tonight Kies now has a different message.... Dunno what changed it.

I have been batttling with my GS2 for the same reason...(I live in Cape Town and have a South African version of the phone).
With little reason to root my phone other than this (for the moment!), and unable to achieve the desired effect using Tasker, I decided to update the software on the phone using the phone itself rather than Kies. (I hate Kies! Clumsy what!?)

Eurika! The update allows the camera sounds, still and video, to be killed by muting the phone.
This obviously relates to which versions of the Android software are available in each country.
Mine is now Android version 2.3.4
Baseband version 19100XXK11
Kernel version 2.6.35.7-19100XWK14-CL575468 root@DELL143#2

Hope this helps some of you.
