Coming back with my head down... :-(

Yes, I got the Bionic but I can't stand the pixelated screen. It's a fast machine, but I still prefer the X display over the Bionic's.

My question is... how do I switch back? I know somewhere in the Bionic's features there is a factory reset option which I can't seem to find...

But what about switching my number back to the X????

I decided to wait for the Prime, in the meantime, I hope my X will love me back again. :)

Any advice? Thanks as always...

Dave

I played with the Bionic yesterday at the store and I didn't think it was all that great (die blur, die! :p)

It felt faster and things loaded up faster, but that's to be expected with dual core and 1GB of Ram.

I didn't like the soft buttons all that much (maybe it's a "getting used to" type of thing)

The auto focus was nice, but pictures didn't turn out much better than the X if at all better (I'm not impressed with the screen either).

I wasn't planning on getting it, and if I was due for an upgrade I wouldn't get it either.

I recommend you go play with it at the store before deciding to buy it.

I agree on the buttons...I HATE touch buttons...give me hardware buttons, and I also don't like that there is not a dedicated camera battery...

Oh and the display was nasty when I watched any videos with words surrounded by orange or green.

I am waiting now for something else that is quad core, LTE, and SAMOLED or better screen. The 4g speeds in store were 18mbs down, 12mbs up. DAYUM!!!!

Hold you head high there soldier. You own a Droid X!

I played with the DB in the store. I did notice the pixelated screen, but it wasn't a deal breaker for me. It's snappy and yeah, 4G is blazzin'. I really liked the little 'animation' when you drag a widget around the screen, but I'm easily impressed. That being said, I still have my X.

Still lurking in the DB forum. I'm not happy with the battery life. It's not horrible, but it's not as good as our DX. It's just hard to leave a good phone!

im def getting the prime once it comes to us, hopefully it will sport a 4.5" screen, and be unlocked!

if not i dont know what to do after that, it would be verizons doing with locking down the devices and thats getting piss poor sales management, but then again who cares about an unlocked phone????

but in all honesty if the prime is locked up, i think i will switch carriers and drop my unlimited data because this is getting ridiculous that we pay such high prices for this service and the phones we buy are locked up and full of verizon bloat.

You might as well switch carriers now because it will be locked. I think you mean encrypted to the point where it can't be unlocked like the X???

It should not be encrypted, but it will be locked (Verizon won't allow unlocked phones on their network), so far only Moto encrypts.

yea its what i meant bo, verizon doesnt seem to get these amazing phones anymore, they all seem to be going to t-mobile and at&t... strange... but thats just the nature of the beast i guess.

lets all hope and pray for the best shall we?

Damn you Moto, I still don't understand the move to encrypt; they are getting tons of returns either way. Right now there are quite a few people returning the Bionic, let alone how many returns/repair X's they've received.

i dont think they can get the original X back, most warranty's ran out, even extended warranties i believe, so they probably do not get the X back, i wouldnt send my X back, it just works flawlessly, but hey moto has a plan and its quite idiotic to say the least, so i wont be buying another moto phone until i hear about more than 1 phone from them being unlocked

For the X's I meant when they were still under warranty. I bought a squaretrade warranty for my phone, so I can still return it. I have almost a year left of warranty :D

I fondled a Bionic at the VZW store a couple days ago. Nice hardware, as usual. Felt pretty fast. Unfortunately, not only was the Pentile display as irritating as I remember, the oranges and reds were appallingly bad.

I'm just a stickler for a nice display, and the Droid X has that in spades. No unnatural colors, no Pentile pixelation, just a quality LCD.

Hopefully the SAMOLED of the Prime is nice; I haven't seen a GSII yet to check it out.

I'm usually such a gadget junkie but I really don't have much to complain about with my X. My only real reason for wanting to upgrade is to get on the 4G unlimited gravy train.

Yeah, I ran some speed tests and the Bionic - in a store that didn't have the best reception - was hitting 6-8 Mbps down and 3-4 Mbps up. Pretty nice speeds.

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 in there was clocking at well over 28 Mbps down/11 Mbps up

They must have had the Bionic in a corner or near metal wall framing. When I played with one in the store I got 23 down, 11 up. Yikes! All the speeds are better then my .7 down average 3G of my X :(

Better get used to the soft buttons. You don't think the prime is coming with any hard buttons do you? I believe ICS substitutes the entire button area with screen, at least natively.

It's something I've gotten slowly used to, lol. It doesn't bug me as much now as it did in the beginning. I believe there's a qHD that's not pentile used by HTC on the EVO3D.
qHD is just a resolution, just as VGA was accepted as 640x480. QuarterHD....or qHD for short. It's basically half the resolution of 1080p in both axis (960x540). 1/2 x 1/2 means 1/4 less pixels, hence qHD.

qHD can come in Pentile or standard 3 sub-pixel configurations. I've seen a lot of bad comments about qHD for no reason. qHD is fine, it's the Pentile tech that makes it inferior.

The pro's of Pentile are better brightness and lower power, however, I'd rather have traditional then deal with all the other negatives.

Worth noting that all Samsung Galaxy S phones with SAMOLED were pentile, as well as the Droid Incredible with AMOLED. Perhaps the pentile effect was not as noticable on those phones due to the organic LED (false colors and superior contrast). On a screen without the oversaturation, it probably shows more.
