Well here we are 9 months later, we all waited, and waited, and waited some more and now the Bionic is finally here! Was it worth the wait,,,hmm? Ok, so we have some very happy Bionic owners, and some ready to lynch Motorola and go back to they're previous device. Why is it such a toss up, where are some so in love, and some so fed up and Angry with they're Bionic.

The Answer is simple...Quality Control!

In this day and age, honestly this shouldn't happen. RIM is famous for having zero quality control. But Motorola for the most part is usually pretty good with they're quality control on new phones. What this means is that some phones will be exactly what you wished for, A beautiful white screen, very low pixelation, a clear and loud ear piece for telephone calls, a camera that focuses pretty quick and takes nice shots, good build quality, etc, etc!

These are the things you would expect from an almost $700 phone on retail, and $300 with a 2 year contract. And all these things are present, just not on every phone! And to be honest, that is totally unexceptable, plain and simple!

One should not have to do 3 exchanges to get a good phone with all the things that should be present on the first one! This is a big problem if you ask me, and in the long run, will turn alot of people of to Motorola in the future.

It's a big problem for every single smartphone manufacturer on the planet.

Vihzel this is just too divided if you ask me! I know 3 people with the phone, two had a DROID X previously, and one a Thunderbolt. All 3 are saying the same thing, that this phone is not worth the hype at all, and has many issues that stem from manufacturing and what not. My cousin lasted 1 day and is back to his X! Said he couldn't stand waiting 10 seconds for his phone to take a picture. Hey, it is what it is...But what's up with the Yellowish buttons on the bottom of the phone...lol! Bright white moto, bright white!

I too would like a phone that has an awesome screen, 100000000 mbps speeds, and costs a penny, but EVERYTHING is a compromise.

If you can't live with the pentile screen and a camera that isn't the absolute best out there (but it sure as hell doesn't take ten seconds) then please shop for something different.

Oh, and my buttons are as white as can be...

From my experiences on this forum... every major release has had its issues that would make it "too divided" amongst the buyers. The HTC EVO 4G forum was some of the most love/hate that I've ever seen on this forum. The HTC Thunderbolt forum definitely would be considered "too divided" as well. I haven't followed the Samsung Droid Charge forum since I had no interest with the low quality plastic back.

If you're not keeping this phone and turning away from Moto... then that's really unfortunate of Moto. The exact same thing could be said for every customer that has been really turned off by a Samsung, LG, HTC phone. Every single phone has its problems and its people who absolutely love the device and deny any problems and call people who have problems liars (from what I've experienced on a BB9930 forum) to those people who absolutely hate the device and never will do business with that manufacturer again.

I have the Vignette app. The problem is with the stock camera app that's taking a long time to focus. The Vignette app focuses the camera faster and focuses better.

I don't have yellowish buttons on the bottom on my exchanged device. They're bright white.

I'll try the vignette app V!
So did your first one have the yellowish buttons?

The thing with the Vignette app is that you have to purchase it to really get the most out of it. The demo version restricts the picture quality of your photos so they're going to come out a lot worse than the paid version.

The menu button was yellow while the others were white. I returned it though because of a crackling speaker. New phone doesn't have any problems so far thankfully

I disagree. Too many people don't research enough - they read other people's opinions on the phones as opposed to reading cold hard facts, and they take very little time to play with a phone in hand before going out and buying it.

It's not unacceptable - the market for cellular phones and smart phones is so diversified that when people start to make transitions from one OS to another there is a learning curve. Now, with the disparity growing larger within the same OS, the same holds true - there is a learning curve.

In these forums I've already seen 2 different posts of "I wish it was like my old BB" or "Where is this feature that was on my old phone (speaking of a DROID)". The learning curve is there. however, there is also the fact that some phones seem to have issues OOB whereas some do not - and I cannot discount your assertion of QC, but at the same time, these phones are not hand delivered to the retail stores that are selling them. They are shipped - and if you saw how some employees of said shipping companies handled products, you'd be demanding replacement products charged to the shipping companies instead of the OEMs.

Agreed. There have been more reports than I can count of OOB woes on every phone that has launched in the last 2 years. Need I remind everyone of iGate, when the iPhone had the problem with dropped calls when 'held a certain way"?

mass production equates with an increase in defective products. No way around it. Want to make it a better product, do like Nissan is doing with the GT-R - hand assembled by a certified engine builder for that car only.

I took some pics today in broad daylight and the focus was much faster (avg 0.7 sec to snap pic from pressing button) and the focus was a lot better as well.

See, I'm afraid to exchange diddly, b/c 1) I bought it at CostCo, and 2) I'm afraid they've already started refurbing phones that have been turned in yesterday and started using them as replacements...

I'll keep my slightly rattling volume button and possibly color shifting soft key LEDs - its mine and you'll pry the damned thing from my cold, dead fingers! lol

Ding Ding Ding....your 100% on point! When I got my second earlier today, the first one the girl gave me looked like someone took the protective screen off, there was fingerprints everywhere. That would suck if they started doing that.

Yeah, I noticed yellow buttons last night (I think all but the search) - but if that's the only issue I have, I'll take it!

my OG DROID had white buttons until I started overclocking - then one day I noticed purple buttons, only after I had dropped the phone on a hard surface.

So that is what made me come to the conclusion of the alignment of the LEDs and if they have any give in them whatsoever, then they may shift at a later period of time after some abuse.

hence, I'm not worried about white versus yellow - as long as they work, I'm good.

Now, if it was the camera LED, I'd be worried....

Glad I went with the outfit I did then, they guaranty any replacement to be brand new.

Diamond Wireless, I may not have gotten a discount on the phone, or been able to get all the accessories there, but there reps and insurance are top notch.

Of course, I have not had any probs with my phone.

well as far as that goes the phone comes in then goes to motorola. once it is assigned to a cust they CAN NOT resell or replace as new. if there were prints someone took it out to look at it. but all major launches have there fair share of issues. ive been through 8 and there's just no getting around it.
my second phone is much better then the first. and for the life of me i cant see

any pixelation. the only thing i see is the lines in the screen in very bright light, sun, with the screen off.

my quote was supposed to include the comment about giving out refurbs already.
