Shell Case + Extended Battery or Silicon Case - Discuss.

So, I ordered my Bionic online and I havn't gotten it yet. So now all I do all day is read about you guys and your Bionics. That being said, I have a conundrum.

In one of the threads here, someone posted pictures of a hard case that looks like it has a kickstand and fits the extended battery. Apparently it also fits in both dock accessories too. I have some questions about it for those who have it:

1. Is a strong material? I hate those 2 part cases because eventually the clips holding it on the phone always break and the it makes me very angry.

2. Does it really fit in the docks without issues?

3. How much thicker is it than the phone with the extended battery? The extended battery seems to add some very noticeable thickness to the phone and if the case adds alot more on top of that I fear the phone will be just a little TOO thick for me.

Right now I am going back and forth between:

Silicon case + Standard Battery + Extra Battery

Pros: Thin, and silicon cases are easy to take off/put on and they last forever.

Cons: No extended battery, less protection for the phone. Plus to me, having to hot swap batteries when getting low on juice is a real pain.

Extended Battery + Shell case

Pros: Better phone protection, and obviously the extended battery

Cons: Possible conflicts with docks? Phone too thick? Is it cheaply made?

Thanks in advance for your input guys. I'm torn.

I don't have the docks so can't comment on those but the material seems really nice and holds the phone really right. I don't foresee it loosening as I had a hard time just getting the phone out of it. I don't notice it adding any girth to the phone.

That sounds promising.

BUT, I'm a fool and didn't realize what type of case this was. I hate the two part cases where the front isn't protected while it's out of it's slide-in holster I keep my phone in my pocket not clipped to my belt.

I thought the case was a two part with a front and back that simply snapped together. Oh well, guess I'll just stick with the stock battery + silicon for now

I think you will like that, the silicon case dose not add much width, it actually feels better with it on then off, and gives a nice "grippy" feel to the phone.

Has anyone seen/found a silicon case for use on the Bionic with an extended battery installed.

I got the battery and new back from Verizon, but they didn't have a case that would fit it. Go figure.

I have the case/holder combo with the extended battery and I also have the navigation dock. The phone fits ok to me without any problems, however the case does add a lot of girth to the phone. I would prefer a silicone case for the extended battery but I donot think one is available yet.

I have to disagree Uncle Mike. I have the shell holster case, standard dock and car dock and the Bionic fits both easily and securely without the inserts. I have been using both daily with the case with no problems.

I also feel the same. My Bionic fits the car dock just fine. Would like a silicone case that will fit the Bionic with the extended battery though.

I'm starting to think I've got an "irregular" car dock. I just got the Technocel case/holster today and it fits just fine in the standard dock, requiring a slight push to seat properly, but it does not seat properly in the car dock - I can put it in the dock and close the latch without any undue effort, but the USB connector doesn't go in far enough to charge or trigger the dock app.

I'm going to stop by a Verizon store as soon as I get a chance and see if I can try another car dock.

Tomorrow, when I have some decent lighting, I'll post some pics of the Technocel case/holster.
