HTC Repairs - COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME

Rant thread coming up here...

I sent my old Desire to HTC for repair as I've been having a few issues with the screen not waking unless I smack the screen first and the hardware buttons were taking 3-4 presses for them to register. It was picked up Friday morning (sent in it's ORIGINAL box as recommended by HTC) and I got it back today. Nice and quick turn around you'd think...

EXCEPT IT'S EXACTLY THE SAME AS WHEN I SENT IT - AND IT'S IN A RANDOM BLANK HTC BOX!!!!

To say I'm a bit pissed off is an understatement. I'm fuming right now, more for the fact they've sent NOTHING back to suggest what's been done

Is this normal?? Is it worth me ringing them back complain? Will it actually get me anywhere??

I was worried that I would suffer a similar tale of woe when I sent my Desire off for repair. I'd heard various horror stories - ranging from the phone being gone for months to the phone being returned in a worse state than it was sent off.

Thankfully my phone was repaired and returned to me within 12 days. I sent it off to T-Mobile and they sent it off to HTC or somewhere else to replace the motherboard and various other parts. So far so good and all is in working order.... for now.

I sent my phone back for repair a few months back now it was overheating when using Copilot they did absolutely nothing in fact it was worse when it came back.

When using Copilot on a long journey I have to put the phone over the aircon vent to keep it cold then it works Ok for a few hours but not satisfactory at all and you will be pleased to know that the repair centre here in Spain is absolute Shite also they are not interested but then again this is Spain they have to catch up with mod technology I guess

So I thought I'd give HTC a 2nd chance and send it in again. What a mistake that was!! Again, it came back with no notes to say what was done so, after enquiring, it turns out they re-flashed the ROM.

HOW CAN A PHYSICAL HARDWARE FAULT BE FIXED BY FLASHING A ROM????

More to the fact, I even TOLD them I've already reflashed the ROM hundreds of times over the last year as it's been ongoing for about 14 months.

They really are morons :(

Unlucky mate...... :( They are useless though both of us had terrible experiences with them, incompetent idiots at best at worst.......................... Fill in the dots yourself so I don't get an infraction lol

That's the difference, T-M use their own repairers, not HTC. My experience of them was also fairly good (except the stole my screen protector, the b'stards!).

nope t-mobile send it to an accredited htc repair centre. they have to as if they do it in house they also invalidate warranty as they wouldnt follow htc procedure.
when you get the feedback of what theyve done you can tell its gone to htc

Sorry to hear of all the problems people have had. Just to balance things up I sent my Desire back last year when it totally froze after about 7 months (one reason I haven't rooted yet as I couldn't have un-rooted before claiming on the guarantee). The instructions said specifically NOT to use the original box, and it returned fully repaired in just a week. They can get it right but maybe the Desire isn't new enough now for them to bother?

Fairly sure mine didn't, but it's a long time ago now so I'm not going to argue.

But just to clarify why I was of that opinion, my T-M repair was fully trackable so I could see what was happening throughout the process. Repairs direct to HTC (from what I've heard on here) seem to just go into a black hole and may return fixed if you're lucky.

TM are fully trackable, they use an accreddited htc repair center
ive also seen stuff back from htc like that too.
carriers tend to have more weight than consumers
you need to remember that tmobile have a very good relationship with htc due to relationships built from the launch of their flagship android the g1

I had a nightmare with my repair too.

I sent mine in via my local Three store (so I could get a loan handset whilst it was being repaired).

It went in with a broken charging port. They wouldn't fix under warranty as they said it was physical damage. Although I argued that I'd done nothing but charge my phone many times due to the useless battery length, I agreed to pay to have it fix as it was only going to be
