Help Account balance slowly trickling down

Sorry this is my first post, but here goes.

Just recently got a ZTE Blade running 2.3.3 on CM7.0.1

I'm on PAYG with ASDA and I've done something where the balance is slowly ticking down by about 1p every 10 to 15 minutes.

I've had a look at the applications running and they are

Android System
Market
Google Services
Android Keyboard
Android Live Wallpaper

Switching off Backround data and Autosync does not stop it, but switching off Data Enabled under Mobile Network Settings does stop it.

Switching Data Enabled back on immediately starts the 1p countdown again.

Has anyone any idea what might be causing this?

Try installing this. That should help you narrow down what's eating data.

Thanks for that, turns out to be Mr Pigfish and Maps which are not even shown on running apps.

Is there any way I can turn these off without uninstalling them?

I can see why maps may need to send/receive data, (not when it's not running though), but Mr Pigfish?!?!

Mr Pigfish could be frozen in Titanium Backup (you'd need the paid version though I think), not sure about Maps, as it might be classed as a system app.

Alternatively, you could block them with an app like Droidwall? They'd still be on the handset, but you could restrict their data use to WiFi or turn it off completely.

Which is what I did.

Just need to understand that whitelist ALLOWS connection to wifi or 2/3G, and that blacklist BLOCKS connection to wifi or 2/3G.

And that you have to do both lists for all apps to fully use driodwall, and then apply rules.

So you could have maps whitelisted to wifi & blacklisted to 2/3G then apply rules and it will forever only connect via wifi.

Downloaded and installed Droidwall.

So thanks for that guys, at 50p/MB it ticks down rather fast.

Now that I've got this phone I will change to a more data oriented supplier.
