Help Post GB update (contacts)

Before I could go to any contact in my phone and easily add a phone number or merge them if I wanted. Example, I have a facebook profile of my friend ALAN and he is also a contact with just a phone number... before I could merge both contact cards into one.

...........is it just me or has all this become far more difficult. when I try to merge or add a phone number now on a facebook profile, it will not allow me to do it.

How do I get around this issue?!

It's actually MUCH easier now.

To merge, just open the phone contact, choose EDIT from the menu, hit menu again and choose JOIN.

Once joined to the FB contact, you can edit all you want.

Ya, I got that part down... I guess its kinda hard to explain. sometimes there is no other information to merge to. In that case, you would have to CREATE a contact, to MERGE it. Opposed to just going to the facebook contact, pressing edit and simply adding a phone number.

........is that more clear?

You were able to do that prior to the GB.

That's how it's ALWAYS been.

Nope - you were not. You HAD to have a phone contact to connect the FB contact to to be able to edit it.

I think I know where the confusion is coming from on my end. My phone just recently took a shi@t and I lost all my contacts, which I had previously merged. I took facebook completely off my phone before putting it back on again.

Some of the numbers stuck, some didn't.... previous to the information loss, you're right, contacts were already in the phone and I would have merged them the same way.

But for whatever reason, I still recall being able to add a number to a facebook contact without any hassle. I could be wrong it wouldn't be the first time!

Been using Android since 1.6. Never been able to EDIT info on a FB contact. The only way to get someones number on a FB contact was to have them add it to their profile. That's because the FB contact is not a contact on your phone, but a "Snapshot" of their FB profile and the info there.

It would be like you being able to edit their FB info on FB.com.
