HEELLPPP!! This is driving me cRaZy!

ok, so, i've had my htc hero for about a month now, i've had it hooked up to facebook googlemail etc. But yesterday it decided to be stupid and not work, I did a hard reset and signed everything back in.

The only problem i'm having now is Linking my contacts/ people to facebook. I can sign in online etc, but it wont log me in through the contacts. It keeps saying
"the service is unavailable. Do you want to try again"
retry / cancel.

I have plenty of signal and have tried it with wifi and without. It also wont allow me to sign in on the menu > settings area either.

(My facebook login address is a hotmail.co.uk one but that shouldn't be a problem should it?)

can someone please help me because its driving me potty!

That is what happened to me exactly. Nothing worked out but keep on pressing "retry" for about 10 minutes (believe me - I was frustrated that much ) then finally it got through. But can not say that will work for others.
