Help Camera problem after 2.3 update.

Is it just me or there is something wrong with the stock camera after the 2.3 update?
I noticed in 2.1, when I hold my camera vertical, the menu bar rotates as well.
But now in 2.3, when I hold my camera vertical, the menu bar stays horizontal and the vertical picture I took will show up on the screen sideways. But when I open gallery to view the picture, it is vertical and correct.

So I was just wondering if anyone is having the same problem or it is suppose to do that in 2.3..?

Please help. I enjoy the 2.3 update but not what is happening to my camera!

Thank you.

I tired and it didn't work!!!
any other suggestions?!

Try going to settings -> Camera -> Clear Data.
And restart phone and access camera app. maybe there's a glitch and it needs to repopulate.
Similar solution works for those who had FC's with music player.

I am afraid I don't use the button.

Usually if things don't work properly after the upgrade, it usually has to do with the upgrade not being done properly.

There are a lot of people that did not clear the SDcard before the upgrade to 2.3....so there are bunch of user settings from 2.1 that are being used for 2.3....we want to remove those user settings and reset it...or let it create a new file.

Or....try using a different camera app...like Camera 360 or Vignette or something.

Hi!

I had the same camera problem on 2.3.3 and tested to the clear data and restart and then clicked on the camera icon - then it worked as supposed to.
First I tried just to reset data and then start the app without restarting the phone but that was not working at all.

(Did run the back-up and restore.APK to get my apps back after the upgrade from 2.1 but I should have removed the tickbox for system settings... so I'm convinced that the issue is old config for new OS-version.)

I have the same problem, camera stays in landscape mode......a quick fix I found, which you'd need to do each time you open the camera app, tap one of the volume keys once. ;)

Lol Thats what I'v been doing for the last month or so, but its getting on ma ball bags now. I tried using the Video Cam today for the 1st time since updating via flashtool but our little ''volume trick'' doesn't work, it just zooms lol

Any suggestions people?

Have you tried to goto Settings->Applications->Camera and force close, then clear data?

Or use a different camera app.

I prefer Camera 360 to start.....for pictures.

Is it giving you an error or something?

No, no error at all, you can still take pictures in landscape mode it's just that the icons on the screen don't autorotate like they should. It's seeming more and more like it's a 2.3 issue, hopefully SE releases a hotfix

[camera error can be rectified by two steps,

1. Connect ur phone to pc with pc companion or unmount the sd card from it. Then open the camera app.it shows a message "no sd card" or something like that.If the camera application can run in the absence of sd card do the next step.

2.Cconnect ur sd card to pc by either card reader or the device.open the drive then reset the computer setting to "show hidden files and folders" and delete thumbnails, cache in camera folders(DICM) or back up the personal data and format it.(check back up contains thumbnails,cache.....).ur camera will work finely.............................
