Help Camera, Notification LEDs and Headphone Socket not working - hardware?

Hi everyone,

I'm suspecting this is a hardware issue, because all the features that are broken are in the same end of phone, but has anyone else had these problems all at once?

I did drop my phone last week, but have used the camera since and it seemed fine. Then on Saturday I went to use it and just got a black screen. No menus or anything come up. It just goes blank and seems to freeze. Pressing home eventually kills it and goes back to menu.

Tried the flashlight app to see if that worked and nothing working there - no LED comes on.

Then I also realised my notification LEDs have stopped working. I get a message or power is dying and no lights come on.

Finally went to try and listen to some music today and my headphones are not being recognised. Plays fine through bluetooth headset or over the phone speaker.

So it seems that most things at the camera end are broken.

The rest of the phone is functioning fine as far as I can tell. Calls etc all okay.

Now, my phone is a refurb which is in warranty (given to me to replace my old phone which the three repair shop broke whilst fixing another issue), but I'm concerned they'd tell me that it was physical wear and tear so wouldn't cover me. I've also switched networks in the time and don't want to go through my old provider again. The fact I'm onto my 3rd desire after the last time I tried to get a repair has put me off that idea.

So if this is hardware, I'd like to try and fix this myself if possible. Any ideas or tips? I have a torq screwdriver so can get the corner ones open, but don't have a phillips small enough to get the side ones off.

Edit: Android Version: 2.2 (2.25.771.1)
Network: Was Three handset, unlocked and now T Mobile.
Taskiller Used?: No
[Optional]Are You rooted & which Rom: No
Issue: Camera/LEDs are borked.

Yes I have. :(

I've got exactly the same problems as you describe here. Opened the phone, disassembled and then re-assembled the boards, pressing firmly on the connectors. Didn't take the time to inspect the circuit traces with a magnifying glass. But still no speaker, notification light, headphone or LED flashlight working. Definitely a hardware issue, as I didn't tweak with the softeware. I even gave the phone a reset to factory defaults, to no avail. I hope I still can find the receipt, otherwise I can't claim warranty.

Cheers,

Robert.

hmmm, I have been experiencing a similar problem with my HTC Desire. My flashlight is still working, but the led notifications, camera, and headphone recognition are not working.

My phone is rooted and I've tried multiple roms..so I was thinking that I may have messed the phone up. I've done factory resets, tried different roms, etc., but nothing has helped.

I did trip over my phone when it was charging which may have caused it to hit the floor harder than an ordinary drop...I didn't think it was hard enough to cause these problems though.

I have the same problem. First I noticed my headphones were recognized as headset, which was odd. Then the headphones only worked intermittently, then my camera started showing black screen off and on, and now nothing works and the notification lights are gone too.

Anyone know how much this would cost for HTC to repair?

Thanks
