About gROM
  • gROM was designed to be a cleaned up Sprint Stock ROM based on the latest Gingerbead 2.3.3 release. It has been tweaked and tested. All apps in the ROM are up to date!
  • I removed all of the Sprint bloatware and made some minor changes under the hood and tweaked it to perfection. Its complimented with a small but useful assortment of applications.
  • Read post #2 for important info BEFORE you attempt to flash this ROM!

About ROM Updater
  • ROM Updater is an application that allows you to download Themes, Ringtones, Fonts and more from inside the application! ROM Updater will also allow, of course, updated ROM's to be download. All of this done from inside the OS then automatically flashed in recovery for you! ROM Updater is temperamental and may occasionally force close from time to time when viewing screenshots. A complete rewrite is in process but I am more than sure you will be happy with this addition!
  • ROM Updater needs to be configured for first use! For ROM Updater configuration instructions read more HERE!
  • For a list of all mods in the ROM updater see HERE

Changes in 2.2 - 10/16/11
  • Added: Full Adobe Flash 10.2.1
  • Added: More performance and memory tweaks
  • Updated: Market 3.2.0
  • Updated: No Frills CPU Control 1.15
  • Updated: Host file

Prerequisites

About Overclocking
  • Unfortunately not all devices are created equal! Some devices can be overclocked further than others.
  • The ROM is set to 748MHZ. I feel that is a good blend of stability, speed and battery performance.
  • You may choose to increase or decrease the speed with the included application. If you go past 748MHZ you do so at your own risk!
  • My device can be clocked all the way to 806MHZ and preforms perfectly. Yours may not! You have been warned :-X

How to Flash
  • Download ROM and place on the root of your SD Card
  • Boot into recovery mode
  • Wipe Data / Factory Reset
  • Flash ROM
  • Boot into OS

Change Log
  • Complete gROM Change Log is HERE

Known Issues
  • After adding the Power Control Widget to workspace / desktop you will need to reboot one time.

Thanks!!! Does it have free WiFi Hotspot capability? I'm still on rev ZVC (and have refused to accept rev ZVD) so that I can enjoy free WiFi Hotspot functionality (via Quicksettings). Free WiFi Hotspost is far more imporatant to me than any of the new features of Gingerbread.

At this time you will need to use the WiFi tether app that is readily available in the market. I haven't tested it yet but am doing so right now.

I just checked the Android market and there are a couple dozen WiFi tethering apps, but I didn't see one called "WiFi Tether".
1) Would you please let me know the exact app name (and developer)?
2) May I assume that you're NOT paying Sprint for WiFi Hotspot service?

The exact app you need it this on: https://market.android.com/details?id=android.tether

This will allow free tethering with no subscription service from Sprint.

This looks very promising, excellent work. I'm downloading now, but the speeds are brutally slow. Would you consder mirroring it somehwere else. This is a new site that allows you unlimited transfers: m i n u s . c o m

Sorry, please do not mirror. I just test downloaded and sustained over 20 megabits a second. That 2 megabytes a second. Look at attached screenshot.

What speeds are you seeing and do you live in FL?

No, not in Florida. I was getting about 50 - 100 kB/s. Just tried again and it started out at about 1 MB/s, but looks like I get throttled down to about 250 - 150 kB/s. I ran a speedtest and I'm getting 15 Mbps down. It downloaded though, so no biggy.

Any help would be appreciated. I just finished updating and all phone settings are now listed as unknown. I've installed a number of other roms before without a problem.

Thanks

Can you screenshot? I have not heard of this before?

Also did you...

1. Clean install?
2. Restore anything from back up?

I'm new to this stuff but if i wanted to root my phone would it erase all the current data inc: contacts, txts, emails, etc. If it does how would i back up all the data on my phone. Thanks a lot if you can help me out :)

Gogin to this ROM version it is highly recommended that you do a full wipe. As far as contacts, Google should restore those when you log in to it again. Email is also on Google's server. As far as texts I believe there are some market apps that can help you there.

Let me know if you need any help!

Scott-

I lost headset audio for phone calls with the OTA update to 2.3.3. If I root and load your ROM, will I get that back?

Thanks,
Trash

Some people have reported no issues but others have reported the issue so I cannot say with certainty because I do not have a wired headset. I think this is a glitch with the update. I am actively pursuing the issue at this time.

Scott-

Thanks for looking into this. I'm not too keen on rooting the phone right now, but if you can fix the audio problems I'll dive in feet first, head first, whatever. As far as your testing for this one goes, you don't need a wired headset. I communicated my problem poorly. I used to just plug the headphone jack into speakers (aux in on my car) and use the phone's mic for calls. You could replicate the same thing with regular headphones or a pair of computer speakers. I'd be interested to hear if anyone can still use this feature... I haven't seen anything yet on multiple forums, but that doesn't mean some people aren't affected.

Well, I do use the headphones every night as just that. I listen to a podcast as I fall asleep. So I know that much works. Still am looking for my wired headset.

Everything installs well... but I don't get mobile data... no phone recognition. I can get wifi going, but continues to search for service, no bars, nada. Am I missing a simple setting?

EDIT: I'm rooted, Xionia recovery... and going from cyanogen mod 7 ROM to this ROM. I wiped all data, cache, and Davlik cache. I have a feeling I missed something!
