Ok I give up! I have been trying to update the recovery in my phone from 3.0.0.6 to the latest version using Rom Manager. I get notification that flash has been successful but when I try to reboot to recovery rather than recovery it does normal boot and no matter what does not go into recovery until I use Rom Manager to reflash my previous recovery.

I have trying to figure out a way to flash recovery manually but without using PC but there seems to be no help on this.

Some one please help!

OK.... you can't update to the latest Recovery with RM........they are Gen 2.

but there are other Gen 1 Recoveries available through RM......

First go into RM settings...... make sure Erase Recovery is unchecked.....

Then from RM main menu All ClockworkMod Recoveries choose 3.0.1.4..... this is Gen 1.

You may need to clear download cache from settings first.

Your existing recovery should be erased and the new one flashed.

Which problem is that?

When you say no joy, do you mean 3.0.1.4 did not install, or what?

Did you use ROM Manager?

Did you uncheck "Erase Recovery" in settings?

Or can you just not reboot into Recovery?

hi
i couldnt boot into recovery but now i can....
now for the next step which im a bit nearvous lol
does TFT not require a pc?
i dont have one :-(

you gotta explain what you are trying to do.....

TFT ?? you mean screen type?

or do you mean TPT.... totally different thing..

which next step do you mean??

ppl are not mind readers you know!!

why not explain what it is you want to do and what precisely is not happening for you.

maybe when we know then we can help!!!

just set out in plain language what your problem is.... please.

so many guys come on here and do not explain their problem..... then they never come back... and very rarely say a simple.... Thank You!!!

nite :)

If you are doing a TPT, as in going from GEN1 to GEN2, with or without a GEN2 ROM, this does not require using ClockworkMod Recovery at all.....in fact, installing by TPT will also install a GEN2 CMR.

The method is very specific, and is set out here:

Gen1 to Gen2 TPT upgrade - Android @ MoDaCo

You should read the first post by wbaw, and carry out either the Gen1/Gen2 conversion, making sure you have also downloaded and saved your ROM of choice to SD card, or, probably better, do the all-in-one TPT, which converts to GEN2, and installs either Ginger Stir Fry 24 Beta or CyanogenMod 7.1 RC1.

This depends on your choice.

Just to quote the installation method, which is important:

To install:

Unzip the file to the root of your sdcard, it will create an 'image' folder.

Check the integrity of the files using AFV (available from android market) to find the nandroid.md5 file in the image directory, then long press on it & verify nandroid backup.

Turn off your phone, leave it for at least 30 seconds, then hold menu & volume + when you power it on.

You should see some green text (may be just a blank screen) then it should reboot & you should see a big android while it is performing it's first boot (this will take a while).

Once it has successfully started up don't forget to delete the image folder on your sd card, to prevent any accidents.
