I couldn't stand listening to you people talk about rooting anymore. So Bugless beauty is installing now :)

btw I found this guide to be the easiest:

Step 1) Root http://rootyourdroid.info/guides/obtaining-root/

Step 2) Installing the recovery software to make a nandroid backup: http://rootyourdroid.info/guides/custom-recovery-image/

Step 3) ROMs http://alldroid.org/viewforum.php?f=309

Optional overclocking:

Step 4) get setCPU from the market $0.99. Alternatively you could get get a ROM with the overclocking done for your but setCPU has nice profiles that some people claim they have had as good or better battery life with by managing their CPU profiles smartly.

step 5) Get Temp Monitor to keep an eye on your temps. Mine are running 20-35c roughly. My guess is anything over 40C is worrisome. http://alldroid.org/viewtopic.php?f=207&t=1913&start=0

Was damn near a walk in the park.

I decided to restore my original and go with the beast though, I wanna see the speed increases heh.

I don't think you "need" setCPU, it just allows you profiles. Also, it's a good visual tool to let you know that you're actually over-clocked.

And by the way ... welcome to the dark (dork?) side. :D

Really? How would you OC otherwise? I think that Pete used to include it but I was reading in the latest versions he removed it because the dev asked him to. So now he just releases the ROMs that have a kernel ready to be OC'd. When I loaded up setCPU it still showed me running 550 mhz. I guess I could have found a ROM that OC'd for me though. Either way it's a handy tool and thanks I couldn't stand listening to all the root talk! heh.

So can bugless beauty do the wifi tether?

I don't think Beauty includes WiFi tethering. That's part of the Beast ROM.

Congrats! So does the speed increase make the internet load any faster, or is the web browsing speed based solely on the speed of your internet provider?

Yes, it definitely renders faster, and the browser app itself loads and switches between everything faster as well. Overall, browsing feels a lot better.

I took the plunge after Jan 22nd (total let down day) passed. No, OTA update? No problem. Now I could care less if and when 2.1 officially hits. It's custom ROM all day everyday for me now. haha. I got everything I wanted with the latest beast rom.

Multi Touch for Pictures, Browser and Maps....check!
Overclocking....check!
Better Youtube quality.....check!
Better Android experience....double chiiiiizeck!

I guess I'm not sure what you mean. I am new to rooting. But I think it is still 2.0.1.

All of the popular ROMs are 2.0.1, not 2.1. They use a lot of the 2.1 and/or Milestone apps for the better functionality and multitouch, but the system itself is still 2.0.1, so no live wallpapers, and none of the hidden/system enhancements that may have been included in 2.1.

Honestly they're better off being 2.0.1 right now. The 2.1 ROMs that were out a little while back are extremely buggy, compared to these 2.0.1 based modifications which generally are bugless or close to it, and very fast.
