Not Stock Android

After sporting an OG Droid for nearly two years, the Prime is a step up in every direction. The idea of a stock vanilla Android experience on it was icing on the cake: TW and crapware will have little to no impact on my purchase decision.

As long as the bootloader is unlocked - and there's no reason to believe it wouldn't be - we can always put stock on it as soon as CM8 stable comes out based on Ice Cream Sandwich AOSP. Doesn't bother me at all.

EDIT: Well, it bothers me a LITTLE bit, out of sheer inconvenience more than anything...

Dude, did you read the tweets? Pouring out a drink for VZW nexus prime, rip? Sounds pretty dire to me.
read it and it all started off with "If what im hearing is true then I may cross the nexus prime off my christmas list."

Don't freak out just yet. He's commenting thats all.

Wait until some reliable info trickles in. No need to jump to conclusions

I really hope that Verizon does not drop the ball on this like they have been lately. I have been waiting for a super Samsung phone on the Verizon network for some time. The Samsung Charge was released back in the beginning of summer and it is a great phone. The only reason why I did not get it is because of the SGSII that we all were waiting for.
I am not a fan of any other brand of phone at this point.

At one time I loved the Motorala brand when they were making the MOTO Q, which helped to kill the Black Berry.

To me, Samsung and Android is the only phone that is going to kill the iPhone. The rest are way behind.

Vandy I like you have become a huge fan of Samsung. I think they have stepped up to the plate and have continued to grow and evolve their product line like nobody else.

I think their closest competition in the Android market is HTC and that's ONLY because HTC kicks out a new phone every 3 to 4 days. HTC is a lot like RIM in that they are more focused on getting something new out the door rather than perfecting their hardware.

I will never buy HTC. I don't like their product at all. Moto may win me back if they ever get their act together and put out quality product again. Until then my dollars will go into Samsungs pocket. LG is coming on strong as well and I think they are a manufacturer to watch.

Samsung releases just as many phones as htc does. It seems like every other day we are hearing about another new samsung that is coming out lol

Even though my first smartphone was an Eris and I'm just now able to see the letters HTC without frowning, I'm not so sure it sucks as much as it did. Incredible 2 had rave reviews, and I think the screen is sharp and vibrant. If they've worked on their battery life, I could definitely see it as a fall back option if Prime is dead or crappy.

Sorry but I just dropped Vigor from my list of phone options. I found the spec yesterday and it has 1620mAh battery! It has every spec a little higher than Evo3D with 1.5Ghz, LTE, HD screen but battery is downgrade from it. Seriously I think it's shaping up to be another case of HTC battery disaster after Thunderbolt.

I agree that anything with HTC on it might be an unmitigated disaster battery-wise. But I do think that unless you've got your LTE phone charged in your car or at your desk throughout the day, extended batteries will be more necessary than not until Krait 28nm comes out.

I just hate the heft that extended batteries put on the phones. They turn them into freaking camels.

I can surely keep any phone going throughout day with car charger, computer USB, etc, basically plugging it to charger everywhere possible. But I don't like having to worry about battery life throughout day. And HTC extended battery seems to add quite bit of bulk. So they better get slim extended one for Vigor for me to reconsider.
Bionic seems to be a little better on battery than I originally thought on its first days. Now they seem to be normally getting 10~12hours 4G under moderate use. And Moto has fairly slim extended battery. But that screen, camera is pretty hard to swallow for me. Don't like its webtop eating memory either. Hopefully samsung doesn't drop the ball on Prime's battery.
