Help Help changing from UK to Canada

hi
i bought a phone on ebay and it is from orange mobile in the UK, and all the settings and app and downloads are for UK so i get an error
is there anyway to remove all orange mobile or change to canada settings/network

Go to settings, then about phone and what does it say under "Android Version" if its 1.6 then you could update to 2.1 and it may find the canadian ROM, or you can update to CM7 unofficially which will void warrenty but I would think you dont have warrenty if you bought it off ebay.

yes it says 1.6 so how do you upgrade to either of them ? sorry not good with phones lol

This is the link to the LG updater which will flash the 2.1 ROM to your phone Mobile Phone Support

Install the program, download drivers for the GT540, then connect your phone through USB (make sure USB debugging and mass storage only are not selected) and it will check for an update which it should find, the click start update and it will flash 2.1 to your phone.

However if the phone had the orange ROM installed it could install the orange 2.1 ROM, then the best way would be to use KDZ the list of available ROMS is hereStock 2.1 along with install instructions, however I dont see a canadian ROM so you may have to install the UK open one, and change settings manually (there should be a US english language setting)

The LG updater is the safest way, because its automated and you can do nothing wrong but if the orange ROM is installed already it may install the orange 2.1 ROM, im not too sure but when I did it it installed the open ROM, but mine did come with the open 1.6 ROM installed.

There is always CyanogenMod 7 as well which is completly customisable for localisation settings as well and is android 2.3, but this is unofficial and will void your warrenty.
