Ok, so i want a new phone and have the money saved up for the phone (subsidized of course) and the tax, im on a family plan with 1500 minutes, the phones we have are an LG Phone (i have no idea what it is lol) a Storm 1, and a Blackberry Tour, and mine..an LG Dare. My Upgrade date is'nt way until august and i thought id stick it out and hope for a Vzw iPhone, but at this point i just want to throw this Dare at my wall. I browsed the store and have had a chance to play with the droid for some time now and i actually really like it. I was wondering what would happen if i tried to upgrade/replace my phone now, would i have to pay a cancellation fee? or would they just add the new one in without any upgrade discounts and tack on the 30$ data plan? hopefully it's the latter because i dont have an extra 350$ layin around :(, please help? :)

Thanks!:D

is that update date a 2y anniversary or 1? are you the primary line? if you are the primary line you can upgrade to a new phone every year (but no 100 dollar new every two discount)... you can buy the droid at the current subsidized price, and they will add the 30 dollar data plan of course...

no you will not have to pay any kind of cancellation fee, you arent cancelling anything...

I'm in the same boat. My NE2 isn't until summer of 2011. I bought my Env Touch with my NE2 last year and would now like to upgrade to the droid. Would I be paying the ETF? I don't think I can call up and say hey can i have my NE2 now.

Knowing VZW, they won't give you your NE2 credit but they might allow you to buy the phone at the 2 yr upgrade price. Just say you're not happy with the Env touch. I'm sure they'll see that you are upgrading to a more expensive plan and they'll let you get your droid.

you definitely wont get a NE2. And you definitely wont pay an ETF, that is if you are leaving verizon. But you will have to pay full price for the droid. I doubt they will let you buy it at subsidized price. What day did you buy the env? at the one year mark you can buy the droid at subsidized price. If that is too long to wait for, sell your env ob ebay, I'll bet you can get at least 150 for it... then apply that to the price of the unsubsidized droid.

Call them and see what they will do before you give up.

I bought my Droid from Bestbuy and had them pricematch walmart.com price which is 119.99 for 2 year extension or 109.99 for new customer. I added a line to my wifes service so they gave me the 109.99 price. I ended up cancelling my contract with them and doing the family plan with her. It actually saves us money.

I don't agree with that. See my above post.

if you just bought a phone months ago (and a year has not gone by), I really dont think they are going to let you upgrade, but hey go for it and let us all know. All i was saying is that there's this little known fact that you can buy a new phone ONCE per year at 2 year subsidized cost (you re-up for 2 years each time). You forfeit your 100 dollar NE2 discount but you can buy a new phone each year. Thats all I was saying. Happy hunting.:)

I wonder if people will be able to get a Verizon Nexus One at a discount if they have passed the one year mark but not yet at the two year mark. Does T-mobile have a yearly upgrade option? Is the Tmo N1 discounted at the 1 yr mark? Thanks

well I dont know anything about TMO but as for the VZ question, whats the latest rumor that VZ wont be selling it in store, right? I'd say based on the fact that you cant do the every year thing at Bestbuy (you have to go to a verizon store to get it), I'd guess that Google wont honor it either...

Thanks. Yes, you are most likely right. I just checked the Nexus One pricing page below:

Pricing : Place an order - Nexus One Help

Tmo has a similar partial discount after 11 months and that does not qualify you for a discount on the N1. So, unless Verizon makes different arrangments it looks like I won't qualify for the discount price until my 2yr mark. Thanks.

I am pretty sure that I bought a phone on the yearly upgrade last summer (so Yes), but I have returned a couple phones now so they are all screwed up on my contract date! Try online and see if it shows the eligible upgrade for your line (they've recently changed how this looks on the website).... that way you don't have to deal with rebates, etc like you would if you bought in store or on phone... if you dont see the eligible upgrade, call them and they will take care of it.... they have always been very good on the phone... helpful, etc... in fact, I remember now, they helped me over the phone as i did it online... and they made it so I could but it online.

Hope I didn't confuse you.
