Trying to activate w/ rooted/rom...

So I broke my evo and picked up a temporary rooted Hero with Wild Hero Rom on Ebay. I am now having a bunch of issues:

1) Obviously can't activate it as is, so I have been trying to get back to factory.

2) Drivers appear to be installed properly except ADB after installing HTC sync

3) Because ADB isnt installed properly the PC driven reboot utility from HTC is not finding my phone when it is starting. Can find my phone via HTC Sync and access folders just not ADB.

4) So I have now tried the HERCIMG.ZIP via Hboot, it appears to be in the root of the SD but after powering off. It will not reboot when holding down volume and power. It does nothing. If I just press power it seems to reboot but obviously that doesnt really accomplish anything. This seems like the easiest way to accomplish what I want, but I have no idea why it wont restart with Down and power.

Anyone have any ideas? I obviously did not root it or install the rom and have never done so. I looked for a backup in the file manager but did not see one. I have been reading all over the threads for various options but have not found anything that has worked so far.

Simple, do this, make a full copy back up of you SD card, and put it on your pc, then format the sd card, and put the file HERCIMG back on your card and then back in your phone, make sure you are not putting the .IMG twice, then turn your phone off, boot into HBoot and it will find it, let it do it's thing from start to finish, once done, then you can transfer all your SD card info you copied back to your SD card. Your back to stock. ;)

  1. Simply rename this to HERCIMG.zip and place on the root of your SDCard.
  2. Power your phone completely off.
  3. Press and Hold VOL DOWN and POWER until your phone boots into HBoot mode.
  4. Wait for it to verify the zip, then click <ACTION> (Trackball) to update, or <SEND> (Green Call) to cancel.

Should not make a difference, did you format your SD card as mentioned, you can also flash a sense Rom, like Liquidsense and you can activate your phone that way

It isnt finding the hercimg during the Hboot....If I go to "recover" and choose SD ZIp,it sees the hercimg, but will not load it.

It is also S-on if that makes a difference.

Yes, i did format it by right click formatting within windows, there is nothing on the card but hercimg.....I will try the sense rom... Do I need to put anything back on the sd card first?

Also, at what point will I know if it is actually bricked? At this point it keeps rebooting fine and everything still seems to be functioning except I can't activate it obviously.

Liquidsense rom did not work now in loop. Goes from thr HTC white screen, to the sprint now thing and repeats....I can still get to hboot. I can't figure out why the hercimg won't work. Anyone run into situations the hercimg doesn't work? It isn't finding it during the hboot. But if I go to manual load zip file, the file is there. But if I try to install, it aborts.

At this point, I don't even care if I don't use the phone again. I just want to fix the stupid thing for a little self satisfaction.
