Root [ROM][Beta][FINAL] CM7 Android For Triumph [Tickerguy Edition, Kernel: mine] 11/19

New build up - wifi lockup appears to be fixed. No other major changes. Note that I am not enabling ext4 right now because it requires both a new clockwork and a data wipe as the kernel has to be changed and Clockwork has a copy of the kernel in it distinct from the booted and running system. I will be doing it (and including the overclock kernel) but not at this moment in time for compatability and debugging reasons. Priority on the "fix list" remains the GPS. The kernel in the latest build IS ext4-capable.

Also, very bad news on Wifi Tethering (native) - none of the other "similar" devices I've been able to find ROMs for have a wifi driver that will load and run. There are, it appears, hardware differences that are sufficient to preclude those drivers from working. That's very bad news as it implies that this phone may be a cousin of the Huwei (and others) but it is NOT functionally (other than the CDMA radio) identical and the apparent intentional removal of the driver symbols will preclude the hotspot from working unless we can either get source to libra.ko or find a compatible copy of that loadable that has not been stripped.

Ticker, thanks for the new build.

I was wondering- is the wifi fix supposed to disconnect wifi every time the phone sleeps (and reconnect on wake)?

While this is a good workaround and better than having the phone freeze up- to me it isn't a great permanent solution. Some networks require manual re-authentication each time a device is connected and so this would become annoying for me (some also take a while to assign IPs and such). Also it seems like this would interrupt downloads if the phone goes to sleep in the middle of it.

I also noticed that the screen take a couple of seconds to come up when waking it on this latest build.

I hope I don't seem like an ungrateful downer- I just wanted to express my concern.

Oh I was itching to get ext4. Since it is compatible can I make the change to ext4 anyway?

Yes, that's how it should be. The libra card should sleep when the phone is suspended.

Interesting... is that a cm7 "feature" to save battery? Stock doesn't do that...

Well, you can adjust the WIFI sleep policy within the Wifi settings. Just press the menu button and go into advanced.

What I should of said is that the card *should* be able to sleep. On my builds, the WIFI will never sleep even when set to sleep during screen off.

Okay, well it looks like now on Ticker's build, it'll always sleep even when set to never.

I tried a couple of WiFi lock programs and neither of them worked... fully. It seemed like they may have prevented WiFi from disconnecting when the phone sleeps, but the WiFi would disconnect (and then reconnect) anyway when the phone woke up.

Yes, that's completely true.

I thought the WiFi Lock apps were working, but they're not. And isaac just made me realize that they're pointless, since you can already do that from the advanced settings, which I didn't know.

But still, I think it's way better this way than how it was before.
Even though, like munkymedic, I've come across a few reboots instead of lockups when coming from sleep mode.

I am not running any sort of wifi management program in the background. With the change I made Wifi will always sleep when the phone goes to sleep. There appears to be no capability in the interface code to play nice otherwise. What's worse is that it appears there's no choice on this one, as none of the other drivers I have access to that are allegedly for the same chip work at all.

That is, trying to use the Cherry, AndroID or Huawei Wifi drivers result in a driver that refuses to load. I found this option and its effect while attempting to get tethering working. It's not a complete solution but it does stop the lockups 100% of the time on my phone and I've had no blow-ups. If you're using some sort of software to try to "manage" Wifi beyond the stock OS software I have no idea what it will do - unload that and see if the problem goes away. I'm kinda bummed that even with the sleep policy set to "never' it still sleeps, but that beats the alternative. I don't have an issue with sleeping while plugged as I have the Application tab set to "never sleep while plugged" anyway.

ok question about the wifi lockup fix... if you are downloading something with wifi and your phone goes to sleep automatically will wifi continue to download the file until it is complete and then shut off, or will it auto shut off when the phone sleeps and download will finish via 3g or 1x? just wondering...

The ffc is the only reason im waiting for this rom, as well as registering, ill donate 100.00usd to someones paypal. I want the ffc for videochat, its useless to even have the camera if its not useable gps should not be a priority imo as you can usethe 3g network which is faster anyway, considering the gps doesnt work 90% of the time anyway.

While that may be true for you and your use of the phone, that is not necessarily true for everyone. I personally would rather have GPS over the front camera (as I dont know anyone I can video chat with anyway).

So just let Tickerguy do whatever pleases him (which is fixing GPS). Afterall, if he isn't happy then he will just get mad, take his ball, and go home. ;)

Thanks a ton for fixing the wifi lockup and all your hard work so far Tickerguy! I hit that wifi lockup 4 times today so your timing is awesome to me! :D

There are hundreds of posts online about the gps sucking in this phone, im not saying its everyones but the vast majority of people that have bought this phone say the gps is terrible, so unless hes planning on fixing the already flubbed gps i as well as numerous other people will be sticking to the network for location. And i was offering 100.00 usd via paypal for a fix. Thats a pretty big chunk of change. So its up to him, he can continue working on the gps for nothing or get paid for fixing the ffc.

The GPS issues are not a hardware problem, they are a software problem. I am guessing Ticker will integrate these fixes into his build of CM7, so yes the GPS will be fixed. My GPS is very quick after integrating these fixes.

I wiped everything except data, and flashed the 9?18 build with the Google apps as well. it wouldn't boot, so i rewiped, flashed back to previous version, wiped, flashed, and it worked... however, with a fresh install of the google apps, and a fesh sign in for my gmail account, everything to do with Google force closes; such as voice dialer, google music, gmail, etc. I really like my music ya'll! I am redownloading the Rom, but any tips outside of terminal would be good. Should I wipe everything after backing up to computer first(apps only lol) please advise...

EDIT: I wiped the cache -- but I need to check some things. I think that I'm going to reload the ROM and see if I can repeat what happened.

I retract my WiFi bug comment. After using the latest version of ClockworkMod Recovery and reloading the latest ROM -- I let the phone sleep all night charging....and all day today at work with WiFi on....and NO lockups.
