i ran into a few threads i cant find that i saw on my laptop

im ultimately looking for a simple step guide to installing the guide without all the misleading spam in the posts

if anyone can pm me or post id be more than glad to donate

i am on 2.2.1 rooted with 3022 prl

not sure, just wondering whats the main point of the rom,

does it fix these core problems, im just tired of this phone rebooting all the time

Yeah a custom Rom will fix the rebooting for sure. It will also make it faster.

Yeah a custom Rom will fix the rebooting for sure. It will also make it faster.

thanks undacova, unfortunately it seems like too much work / effort to get a new rom and risk ruining the fone

So far if rooted, themed with adw, and changed the PowerOn sound, im looking now to get rid of that metro splash and hope i dont need to use a custom rom to make this fone more effecient!

It's really not all that hard, and there is almost no risk ruining the phone. Everyone that claims a ruined phone is just too lazy to learn or ask properly for help. I have not started helping anyone and ended with someone having a phone that wasn't 100% "de-bricked."

If you use that downgrade guide theres no chance for a "brick" that usually comes from flashing in emergency mode and even then it is 100% fixable.

Some other users have more time and patiences than I and will help you thru the rom flashing process even doing some of it for you via remote assistance.

I would suggest asking new optimus to help ya, he seems to have the want-to and the know-how.

some times it can be a challenge, but mostly helping is rewarding in itself.


that being said this past weekend I was mostly not here, I have been working on a custom rom for my boost mobile phone.
its got so few people working on it that its hard to find any information.
then yesterday my home file server hard drive crashed, lucky it wasnt the data drive. something inside fried, though im not surprised its 6+ years old.
I was lucky I had another old drive, WD Raptor 36gb that I thought the file system was mangled but I was able to get it to reinitialize using arch linux then I was able to format it and install my server O/S to and now its back up and running. Though for how long is anyones guess that wd raptor is pretty damn old too.
the other drive it was so hot you could melt butter on it. and its not a traditional server set up so heat isnt an issue.
Here it was when I first built it, 2 moves and 2200 miles ago.

And yes its a different powersupply, the nice one fried and I had to pull an old one from my dedicated linux pc. so then I had to dual boot my main computer.

LOL, dood get a case. I see you have a desk fan on there, but you can't really cool everything properly in open air like that. Plus having that HDD on a weird angle like that isn't great for the bearings, they like straight vertical or horizontal(trust me on that, learned by experience).

it doesnt have a problem with heat, even running full out, its using the amd version of speedstep to slow things down when not needed and fans are set to turn on and off as needed the hottest the cpu gets is about 38 C
granted thats using the onboard sensors but I doubt its much of a problem.
Now the hd's that could very well make a difference. They dont normally sit like that though. I just replaced that one and stuck it there to check it out.

They normally sit straight up against the box.
that box by the way is the one that mother board came in. lol

oh how the mighty have fallen. I remember when I got that mother board it was the end all and be all, the best overclock board.
Now it just runs my home web,file,samba, etc server.

I first built it it was just a hey I think I have enough parts for a complete system.
I was a case short, the case I had at the time was a microatx.
Since then it is just a conversation piece I could have put it into a case but then it would lose its uniqueness.

I have a friend that used to have an entire pc suspended by strings from his ceiling. psu, mobo, 3 hdds, and a dvdrom, all hanging by fishing line from the ceiling. If he would have had patience with his wiring it would have been sweet....

heard about, and even seen youtube of a guy taped everything to a wall, though the novelty factor on that would wear out fast I think.
