Help repost of splash screen

Actually that does not replace the metropcs splash screen. It only replaced the one after it.

The "ANDROID" one. Unless you move to a custom ROM you will always see the MetroPCS logo.
dagnabit

so even if i rename and replace the bootimages files i cant get rid of the splash?

the sound helps alot but i hate seeing the logo of the shittiest provider of fones xD paying them already pisses me off, its just nice to talk 3000-10000minutes on a phone without having a 1800 phone bill

That is correct.

Just install a new ROM. Like the Sense ROM, it's pretty close to "stock".

I found it to be the best so far on the 2.2.x side of things.

I found Reppards CM7 ROM to be the most stable on my phone.

Yeah i hear you man,
i dont want to install any rom, id rather keep the phone stock and work around the phones stock problems
rather than install a custom rom thats full of bugs and not 100% effecient which i can mess up my phone just to remove the metro pcs splash :p
if there was a rom 100% working with no bugs or glitch, it would give me a reason to install it,

as for now, rooting does enough , remove metro stupid apps and change that annoying hello hello hello unlimit yourself startup sound!

i appreciate your help and suggestions :) i read up about the roms a little bit and it seems a rom might fix a few thing, but ill have 20more bugs and problems i didnt have before

Actually with the Sense ROM i had no issues. It's pretty close to stock. Everything worked just like out of the box.

I think it was based off the original MetroPCS ROM, then just cleaned up and theme'd to look like the HTC Sense ROMs.

With the CM7 and others almost everything worked. but some bugs here and there, but no deal breakers.

The thing is no ROM will be 100%, I mean isnt that why you rooted in the first place? Cause the first ROM sucked? Take the plunge, install CWM or GINM custom recovery and perform a backup.

Once you do that you can install custom ROM to test. If you dont like it you revert back to your backup and pick up where you left off.

this is my issue,

its my fault since i havent read ABOUT the roms or WHO made them

but i cannot take opinions for facts, it seems everyone praises the rom they use and gives one example of it being good, but when they say theres no bugs, i have no idea what they use the phone or how!

its way too much for me to read the guides considering its like 3 helpful posts with 40 off topic unrelated spam replies and then if i mess up its "my fault"

if there was only ONE good rom with 90% guarantee of no errors bugs glitches, i think i would definately do it, but the way it is now, 3 people tell me 3 different roms and of course im not going to try all 3.... heck i dont even have the time to try to do one how could i do 3 :(

Dont get me wrong, i really appreciate your input suggestions and help, its just its hard to convince me that is worthwile to install the rom :(

The guides are not that hard to use. I never played with android at all until I got my optimus in march. I can now compile my own roms from source and completely reprogram the phone from the ground up.

The guides are not full of spam at all, they are full of useful information.

I think you have never seen a forum full of spam.

If you're not willing to put in a little work for a phone that is 10x better than stock, a custom rom is NOT for you.

Yea sorry about that confused the question. If you are brave enough to try

Haven't tried it myself but seems to be what you're looking for. I believe you need to hold menu + vol down + power to get into spl on optimus m. Always make sure to backup your phone before messing with it.

If you don't mind me asking, What is the best source for a noob to start creating his own rom? I have the time and patience and Android intrigues me, so willing to get down and dirty :D

First off your gonna need Linux. Some people run Linux in a VM from windows. This forum censors the words that describe how I feel about people that do that... I would suggest at minimum a dual boot environment, but preferably a dedicated Linux box. If your new to Linux I would stay with Ubuntu as there will be way more information available to help you along.

This post from Joneidy sums up the rest pretty good: http://androidforums.com/3110590-post94.html

Getting thru this would have you with a standard build of IHO CM7.

Just don't use that -j4 command he mentions... lol.

Now as for modifying and making your own, well thats not my alley, I have yet to make it completely thru a build as running that -j4 command was too much for my server/workstation box...

Thanks for the pointing me in the right direction. I'm going to be dual booting with ubuntu soon, after when I get some school work done. After that I will be getting my Geek on. lol. I also downloaded the Android Kitchen from XDA also and going to check out both of them. I want to do this from the ground up and want to test my brain. Even though I don't know what the -j4 command line is but will stay away from it. lol. If I run into any problems with this build (which Im sure I will) would you if I contacted you for help? Or at least point me in the right direction? Thanks again for the information. This is going to be a fun project. :D

Feel free to ask if you have any questions. The android kitchen is for theming a rom, not building from the ground up, but it is a good place to learn some stuff.
