I've been searching for details on the $5.99 protection plan t-mobile offers. It seems that with the normal warranty, if a phone is defective that once you receive a replacement phone, your defective phone must be shipped back with the included label. Well, if I have the top level $5.99 protection plan and my phone was damaged and no longer functional. If I made a claim and had a replacement phone sent, would they require that I send back my damaged phone? There is a $130 deductible so I would think that would cover any sort of "core" charge, but i cannot find any definite answers.

So does anyone have any experience as to whether the damaged phone must be shipped back when making a claim on the $5.99 protection plan?

ok. Well here is a little more detail so you understand my situation. Both myself and my fiance have the G1. We are on separate plans. I am on my own plan, w/o insurance. She is still on her mothers plan w/ insurance. My phone fell hard to the concrete and is no longer functional. instead of paying something like $350 for my semi-discount upgrade to replace it I figured She could claim damage and I could take her phone and she'll use the replacement. Problem is if I must send in the damaged phone I am afraid they may say well this is not the same phone. The sticker under the battery with the EMEI number is easily removed, but they may not accept the phone without that sticker......
