Help MMS and other things not working properly

I should preface with my newbie status. This is my FIRST smart phone, MY FIRST LG, my first android, and my first Virgin Mobile. I had AT&T go phone for years and my last phone was pretty nice. Now I have this Optimus V. I cannot open videos texted to me. I cannot open all the attachments in my gmail. The daily texts I used to receive from news and weather don't appear most of the time. I already returned one brand new Optimus because after one week of using it, it would no longer send out texts. Now I read something about the SD card that came with the phone having things pre loaded on it? I switched it out for a larger one right from the get go. Now what? And the animated gifs that I blue toothed from my old phone are no longer animated. I don't know who to be most disappointed with, Virgin, LG, or myself. Would really appreciate advice. From frustrated and broken hearted and disappointed in Myrtle Beach.

I do not recommend getting broken hearted over a phone. It sounds to me like it's one of two things: 1. You are expecting this phone to act like your old phone. I sorta expected this phone to act like my BlackBerry, but it did not. I too was confused about the mms features and texting for a day or so. The interface is different than what I was used to, that's all. Maybe try searching youtube for a vis that demos the phone? I think I may have. 2. The phone is defective. Where did you buy it from? I recommend Radio Shack because they will take the time to look into your issues and resolve them. Best Buy probably would too. If you got it at Target, I'm not sure there's much more you could do apart from returning it and getting money back. If that's the case, do that and hit RS or BB.

It sounds like a lot of your issues might be the network. You must have 3G/2G network turned on to receive/send MMS. Some of your other issues sound you need either 3G/2G or a WiFi connection. As for texts not going out were they just SMS - no attachments? As for the animated GIF files - maybe there was an app or some other script/program on your other phone that made these work and it is not on the Optimus - I don't know about that one. Also, I had no apps on the microSD card that came with my phone and I don't think there were supposed to be any; at least not when I got my phone. There were some preloaded apps on the phone itself.

Good luck with your issues. I hope you can get them resolved. This is really a great phone and plan for the money.
