all I'm saying is this: Its almost the end of september and nothing official has come out. Not even FCC testing. If november 3rd really is the release date, they better get something to that office with in the next week or so. at this point everything anybody says is a complete waste of time and basically put up on their site in hopes to increase ad revenue.

Vigor is looking more and more better to me if nothing more solid comes out by its release.

FCC testing has been about 30 days before release on most Verizon phones. So start looking the first week of October for better answers....:)

A phone behind a phone? really? talk about reaching for a headline...

Edit: sorry r4yN. I realized after posting this it looks like it might have been a shot at you when I was really taking a shot at GSM arena.

@bldgengineer: no problem i don't take it personal ;)

To the battle: i cannot see how the HTC Vigor should be a superior phone than the nexus prime...

the vigor still has got the Adreno 220 GPU, if it would have a brand new Krait CPU including the new Adrena 225 or even 305/325 GPU i would have to admin that, but it doesn't... still lame old 220

the the nexus prime on the other hand will have an omap 4 Soc by texas instruments, id guess the Omap 4470 with ne brandnew PowerVr SGX544 Gpu, or another higher clocked Samsung-own exynos Soc [but there would be problems with the rumoured LTE 4G] including the Arm Mali 400MP4-Gpu

let's just wait and see what comes out;)

ps: i hope it will be better or at least equal to the SGS2 (especially in CPU & GPU power), otherwise i'll pass on it and get for the galaxy s2

Hey all, I haven't gone through the entire thread yet, but I will be doing that shortly.

Just a question: What is the opinion in general on Prime being Nexus? Kellex on Droid Life seems to be hinting that Prime and Galaxy Nexus are two separate devices that will be launching within a few weeks of each other.

There are varying opinions on this one and I have a very unpopular one. Rightfully so I might add.

My opinion is that there is a Nexus device and a "Charge 2" device. Verizon customers are NOT going to get the "real" Nexus we will get something similiar to the Charge which means we are not getting ICS first.

No Nexus on Verizon. I've already prepared for the bad news. That's my opinion on this whole thing.

So you don't put any stock in the info from Kellex?

Would VZW be so stupid as to deny us both the SGS2 AND the Nexus???

No. He is in the same rumor and speculation boat we all are in. Its pretty evident nobody knows anything at this point. Everyone is trying to piece things together.

In regards to Verizon denying us 2 GREAT Android phones. Without a doubt. That's SOP for Verizon. The worst equipment on the best network.

As if we're not already incensed with TheDroidGuy, here they are cited as having sat down WITH Verizon corporate testers... and the resulting conversation isn't pretty:

Was the Nexus Prime a mix up? They might be two seperate Devices | AndroidSPIN

Take it as you will, amigos. But if Vigor actually trumps this long-awaited device, we may have to eat some crow from the Bionic crew :p

My take on it is that he probably compared pre ICS Prime with TW on it to Vigor with Sense 3.5 and he preferred UI on HTC one.

Regardless of softwares, there is no way Vigor would trump Prime in performance. Both OMAP4 and Exynos (as in some rumors) would crush Snapdragon S3 by health margin. On top of that it has small 1620mAh battery, so its battery life will be just as sucky or worse than Tbolt.

can you be more specific? What screenshot, what response? This is a pretty long thread

See this post: http://androidforums.com/nexus-prime/401681-official-nexus-prime-specifications-speculations-rumors-thread-updated-avial-date-9-18-a-25.html#post3225830

Now go back to the article and his response. He has changed it from "and this is me nodding at everything you just wrote" to:

"*Like*

Well, everything you said matches up to this post which I am leaning towards believing more and more. :)

They need to do a Nexus where all of the manufactures contribute their best tech.

For instance:

LG gives a 4.15-inch 1280*720 AHIPs display
Sony [Ericsson] gives a Exmor R based camera
Samsung gives the Exynos processor (although I think the OMAP4470 could be better)
And Motorola can give laptop docks and whatnot.

That would make for the start of a pretty sweet phone.

LG's AH-IPS is great LCD display. But I think Samsung is on top of display tech too. Just found their display roadmap news here.

After thinking about the Charge and its numbering, The next Charge would be numbered SCH-i520 not i515.

I hear you guys, but you're missing my point. The magnitude of the difference in model numbers isn't signficant. Look at the various Verizon device numbering for Samsung:

Samsung Fascinate (Galaxy S): i500
Samsung Continuum (Galaxy S series): i400
Samsung Droid Charge (4G): i510
Samsung Stratosphere (4G slider): i405
Samsung Prime????: i515

Where's the pattern??? There isn't one.

Also worth noting, the i520 was thrown around quite a bit around the holidays last year as the model number that was to become the Charge (screen shots and all) but we know that ended up the i510. It was dismissed as a mistake or a last minute model number change...or was it?

I heard those same words on the Bionic in the Bionic waiting threads.

Those poor suckers. Not only are they having problems, the sister phone that was released MONTHS ago on AT&T already has a sequel being leaked in images, likely with better specs all around. They should have s-canned the Bionic.

With all due respect to LG, I'll take a Super AMOLED display any day of the week over LCD. No amount of pixels can make up for backlight bleed and off-angle color wash out.

If they can fit a 1280*720 resolution AMOLED display in just 4.3 inches, I'd be all for that (assuming ICS does away with the capacitive buttons).

My biggest concern with the Nexus Prime is its rumored size. I personally feel that 4.3-inch phones are already too big. I know that without the buttons on the face, a bigger screen doesn't necessarily mean a bigger phone, but I'm thinking a buttonless 4.65-inch display will be similar to a 4.3 inch form factor. Just too big for my tastes.

If the Nexus Prime is indeed too big for my liking, it would be nice if LG made another vanilla Android phone, like they did with the Optimus 2X. Of all of the manufacturers, LG is in the best position to make a phone closest to my idea of perfection:

~4.2-inch 1280x720 display (buttonless face)
OMAP4470 processor
Nice Camera, HDMI out (via USB port), large battery, etc

Is anyone else with me, or do most actually like this growing trend of screen sizes?

Can't agree more. We can't draw any clue, conclusion from their model number history. Sometimes small number change brought big upgrade and vice versa. Plus there is no sign of phone like Celox (that deserves Charge 2 name) coming to verizon yet.
