Help Sent Text Messages showing in unread counter

I noticed via the Messages link on the main home screen, I have sent text messages showing up as an unread message and thus showing a counter.

It seems to be that after I receive a new message, when I go into this app sometimes in addition to that showing unread, a message I sent previously via another conversation is also showing as unread, I have to open that conversation to clear the counter.

Anyone else experience this?

Yes! Me too its so irritating. It seems to happen when I exit the message too quickly. i notice my sent message(s) shows up as unread and I have to go back into the thread to make it go away. As if it were a newly received message. I'm surprised there haven't been more ppl to experience this. How to fix?

Good to see others are experiencing the same problem, I'd find it hard to believe I'm the only one! Perhaps there aren't a lot of people who use their phone to text message, I use a lot of text messages so it's not surprising if there were a problem that I'd run into it.

It happens moreso when you go from messages to another app, then go back into messages and it shows as unread. Which is weird, sent messages should NEVER be marked as unread, you had to read it to type it out in the first place, so this seems like flawed logic to me.

I've noticed that after a while the unread state seems to cancel itself out when i reenter messaging. Seen this happen a couple of times. I don't actually get a notification though either, it'd be more of a problem if I did.

On a side note, my old Treo I had the option of marking a text thread unread. While i rarely used it, I was slightly disappointed to see that android lacks that feature.

I've noticed the same problems. I havent discovered a fix yet, not sure that i can, but i know re-reading the thread clears it out. There are some notification options while in texting go to / menu / settings /notifications (going from memory...may not be verbatim). All those seem to reflect that it should only show new messages and failures though.

Hmm.

Its the little annoyances...I still love this phone more than anything XD

If you stay in the thread after to send the text for ~2 seconds it will initially show as unread, but then change to read. I've just gotten used to it.

Yeah it does that now, but actually goes away. That's bearable IMO. The original issue referenced in this thread was when it would not go away after any amount of time. You'd have to actually go back in the thread and view the message you sent for the counter to reset. That was unbearable.

I didn't see another thread on the topic, nor did I want to create a new thread on this but:

Why can't we send more than 1mb via text message? I have an MP3 music file that's 1.04mb, and I can't even send it to my friend to listen to it. WTF... It seems so much easier than to send it via email... Just curious to know. Thx.
