Help How to limit downloading from mobile internet

Hi,

I got my Samsung Galaxy S2 today (YAY!).

I am still playing around, but just want to ask a quick question.

If I want to monitor what gets downloaded with my mobile internet, how can I set this? I would for example like to work on mainly Wi-Fi at home, with my mobile internet being used when I am out and about.

How do I make sure that I am using Wi-Fi bandwidth and not mobile internet data?

In short, I would like to be able to play around and download apps without fearing the bill at the end of the month! If I use my mobile internet to download things, I would like to do this sparingly and by choice (not by default).

Please help?

Thanks.

There are many apps you can download (free) from the market that will keep track of your usage. You can even get some to warn you when you approach a pre-defined limit.
3G watchdog is popular i believe.

I have a simple widget on my homescreen to total up my usage called data counter widget, and this keeps track of monthly, weekly and daily totals (both data+wifi separately)
