Help How do you get movies onto this phone?

My understanding is make a "Video" folder on your SD card, copy your MP4 movie into it, and it should show up in your videos in the "Watch" application. Mine arent showing up. What gives?

The stock media player needs to index the new folder and the new video. Use the free app 'SDrescan'.

... or use an other video player which can show the folder structure of the SD card

'Watch' is a HTC service for to lease and to buy movies.

So you dont actually view movies through that like you do with music in the music player? You use gallery instead?

To my knowledge, yes.
The gallery or a other media player like Mobo Player.

Poweramp is for music only as far as I'm aware.

Try Moboplayer as suggested by Harry, or I use Rockplayer.

Thanks bud, without installing any new applications can you ONLY play movies through gallery?

With Rockplayer, I open the app and I'm taken to the root of my handsets SD Card where I can browse to the folder I've put my vids in. I presume Mobo has the same function.

Can anyone confirm the validity?

Why don't you try your videos with one of this media players. They'll play more formats than the gallery player.

And so there would be no need to convert videos on PC

I need to convert regardless because the movies I have to add are all greater than 2 gigs and wider than 800 pixels, which according to the tutorial it doesnt support BUT I will try moboplayer now. Does it have a widget?

1) When you tick save brightness and volume, does it ONLY apply to this app when you open it? Or the whole phone in general?

2) You know how you can make the video go full screen? Would this have the same effect on the quality as if you would change the aspect ratio to be full screen?

I tried playing a 2.5 gig file, 1280 pixel wide in the app. MP4

The video/sound didnt display (black screen) and the seconds jumped in 3's (2:33, 2:36 etc.)

I tried playing playing a 1.67 gig, 800 pixel wide in the app. MP4. converted file that I mentinoed above.

Worked perfect.

I have a htc sensation 4g.

Is this normal?

Yes, it's this 2GB limit.

For videos larger than 2GB I use VitalPlayer.
You could try it too.
But the player isn't such a thing of glamorous as the MoboPlayer

I noticed some slight stops.
But these could come from my recorder on PC. I didn't examine the issue

I used to use Rockplayer and Moboplayer but found them a bit jerky sometimes and the audio sync would be out sometimes.

I switched to BSPlayer and it's perfect, no problems at all, also find subtitles for you when you go into a video!
