Hey guys i have a htc desire and im looking to get a 32gb micro sd card, However im not fully sure on what to do. I have read things about class and write speed and they confuse me a little.

Im just looking for a 32gb micro sd card that has a fairly fast transfer speed for when i move movies/music from my pc to my phone. Could someone point me in the right direction? I need it to be as cheap as possible and hopefully not some crap brand that would break. I did find this but im unsure as it looks too good to be true i think

Good advice, and I would certainly second a recommendation of Sandisk in particular. They usually significantly outperform other brands within the same Class rating (Class rating refers to read/write speeds). I have a Class 2 32GB Sandisk card and its writes speeds are sufficient for 1080p capture and decoding in my SGSII, so that Class 4 one will be more than sufficient for any use you have in the phone (don't get sucked into paying more for a Class 10 card from another brand).

Incidentally it seems like the new 64GB SDXC cards are more widely compatible than Sandisk themselves report, I got one today direct from Sandisk and once formatted to Fat32 its working fine in my SGSII (two others have reported the same). They do cost an arm and a leg though at present.

Thanks for all the infor and advice.

The 8gb sd card that came with my HTC desire has a fairly fast transfer speed, but the problem im having is that i can see every frame of a movie or programme unless its southpark lol..Cartoons seem to work fine, But things like 2 and a half men or it crowd i can see every movement frame, Like if something moves too fast it blurrs, Like the phone cannot keep up with the programme, What is causing this issue?

Its either a desire S or a desire HD. However i have not found a format that it does not play. I thought i would have to convert to mp4 but thankfully not. As i said aswell, Things like southpark and simpsons play perfectly, Its when i watch something with real people in that i can see each frame. I sold my Ipod touch to get one of these, I truly hope i have not made a mistake. I would rather convert to mp4 and have a perfect picture...

Also about the video player....Im just opening my videos and pressing play :\ Should i get another one?

Ah, its probably a DHD if it supports stuff like divx out of the box - its support is still pretty limited compared to Samsung's handsets, but much better than earlier HTCs and stock Android handsets. If Dice Player supports your handset I would get that, amazing player. Otherwise there are lots of good ones - moboplayer is the other one I've used a bit, but there are heaps of options (if you search the forums here you'll see that nearly everyone favours a different one). They are likely to improve playback over what the stock player is capable of.

I just tried mobo player, Still seems to be doing it. I thought i read somewhere that a decent sized or even decent sd card would improve video playback alot, Which is why i was after a 32gb one.

When i say "If they move fast or suddenly it goes abit blurry" what does this sound like to you?

Unless the card is really, really, slow (like Class 2 of a terrible brand) it won't be the card causing the problem (my Class 2 Sandisk card was sufficient for my SGSII to play 1080p video with a bitrate of 9,500kbps without difficulty). There is a lot of uninformed and irrational BS out there about needing faster cards.

That sounds like a playback issue (assuming the source videos are actually OK in the first place, I presume you've checked them on a desktop or something).

Im starting to think there is something wrong with my phone. Im going to call my provider and ask for a replacement. It keeps freezing up and Youtube is impossible to use. It either says "Youtube is not installed to this device" when it actually is, Or if i go to watch something the picture is badly distorted and unwatchable.

Also TechFreak, I found MX Player that seems to be very good. Thanks for the advice on checking out new players.

I took the advice and bought the card above from Amazon, it doesn't quote the class, it does say "for mobile phones" but after watching the video above it seems a class 10 is going to be faster, is this true?

Also, I keep seeing reference's to cards over 8gb not reading correctly?

would my HTC wildfire perform better with a class 10?

any help would be appreciated

Im new to android so i know very little, However that Sandisk 32gb in the link is a class 4 im sure.

On another note, TechFreak could you help me again?

Basically i installed updates for youtube, Then my picture started going funny and was unwatchable, I uninstalled the updates and now my youtube only works if i play the video in low quailty. If its in high then it is severely distorted. Any idea?

Hey there, sorry took a few days to see your post. Strange problem, I would have thought rolling back updates would fix it. Is you phone rooted? Just wondering if you can uninstall YouTube and restore from Titanium Backup or anything? Otherwise maybe uninstall it altogether and reinstall, then reboot the phone and see how it goes.

I tried a lexar and a kingston, both 32 gb class 10.

They both worked fine BUT the lexar turned out to be incompatible with the CoPilot GPS navigation app, which kept crashing until I replaced the laxr with the kingston. Everything else worked fine. Not sure if it's just a coincidence. This was on my unlocked, rooted Motorola Milestone 2.
