Desktop Cradle Charging Screen (LightsOut)

Is there any way to turn the phone (or at least the screen) OFF
when charging in this manner?

I haven't been able to locate the setting yet if there is one.
Even if I place it in the charger when it's off to begin with,
it boots up automatically.
I don't really like that.
That's pretty cool if you want to use it as a desktop clock or listen to music I guess,
but other than that it's just burning the hell out of your screen for no real reason.

Problem Solved!

Now...
if this is the wrong way of going about it, I don't know.
All I know is that it works, and until someone can tell me a better way, I'm doing it.

1. Put the phone in it's charging cradle.
2. While it's in the cradle, go to your "manage applications" setting.
3. Locate the cradle's app under the apps running tab.
4. "Force Stop" the cradle's application.
5. After your screen times out, it will actually now STAY OFF,
and you can enjoy a nice dark room, and efficient charge!

I don't know if force stopping hurts anything, (if it does, please let me know)
but at least it will take care of the problem until we find out a better way. :)

Hope this helps anyone that's been aggravated by this s as much as I have. :D

And it still charges? Someone was asking about this awhile back, I don't think it hurts the screen any tho to have it on. I don't charge at nite anymore myself, but alot of folks do.

Yeah...it charges just fine.
Actually, it's noticeably quicker because the screen isn't drawing power at the same time it's trying to charge.
You can even receive messages and alerts,
and the screen will turn back off as it does normally.
I really don't understand why there isn't any option to turn that screen off while charging.
They made a brightness button, why not just put it right next to that?
Or better yet...it should have an option to charge it WHEN THE PHONE IS OFF.

I guess the way I speak sometimes gets misinterpreted because I don't choose my words as carefully as I should when I'm in a hurry.
I wasn't trying to say that it "hurts" the screen.
I'm saying that having the screen on for hours unnessesarily is just going to reduce it's longevity. ;)

OK, yeah I agree it would be nice if they gave us more options for different adjustments, that'd be nice. When I'm in the cradle my screen times out and gets very dim so I'm not to worried about hurting it. I go thru a phone about once a year anyway, phones fine after a year, just meaning I like to upgrade that often. Glad you got it figured out tho.

I see.
If I upgraded that often I would feel the same way.
The problem I always face is that I'm very picky about
what devise I use, so it makes my options rather limited.
That being said, it's not very often I see something that I'd actually
like to upgrade to.
Therefore my devises have to last me longer than most.
Until the Commando came out, I didn't think I'd ever upgrade from my enV Touch and G'zone Rock. haha.
