question about the new FCC filing

So we have all seen the FCC filing showing, what appear to be a phone similar to the N1 but capable of utilizing AT&Ts 3G network. I believe I sated my theory on this in that in developing a phone to work for some Canadian and European carriers, the HTC/N1 team inadvertently had to create a phone that worked on AT&Ts network. (They utilize the same frequencies).

It took about a month for the 1st FCC filing to break before the phone hit the market. Its only been a few days since the new filings were found. So my question is, do you think its going to be a 3G capable N1 phone for AT&T or will those of us waiting for it have to figure out a way to get it from Canada?

the N1 going to Canada seems very questionable at best... Rogers has locked up exclusivity for the Sony Xperia coming soon, so it would be bad for sales on that to be discounted by N1 sales, and Telus is getting the Milestone, (droid) either the 18th of Feb, or sometime in March, so them launching 2 android phone that close together seems iffy too. not too sure about bell, but they are usually about 8 months off of Telus' timeline for releasong handsets, so I don't know about that.

Mark

EDIT: by the way, i would be more than happy to be proven wrong, as I am on telus and waiting for them to release the N1 with at&t 3g, and I'll be picking one up, so if I could get one on this side of the border; even better!

I think that google will offer this version online inadvertently allowing Bell/ Telus/Rogers and AT&T to be utilized thereby passing any carrier restrictions but perhaps will offer it through AT&T in the future. But what do I know? This is my first post.

As a Canadian I am crossing my fingers and toes

I agree, don't think at all that it will be on AT&T's site, or in their stores, nor Rogers either, so that only helps that anyone can buy it unlocked.

I would be surprised if Google teamed up with a Canadian carrier to distribute the device. I think it's more feasible that they are selling one that will work on Rogers and Telus and AT&T just to reach more people. AT&T is probably a beneficiary of Google trying to reach customers of the other companies. But who knows.
