Help Apps Vanishing & Reappearing from "My APPs" ???

I have about 144 apps loaded on my D3, through the Android market.

However, the My Apps screen rarely manages to come up with that number.

So, I've started using AppShare & a diff program on my PC to compare the Market's behavior. The results are..unsettling:

Code:
[U][B]Date [/B][/U] -- [U][B]Missing Apps[/B][/U]
Aug 31 -- Traffic Jam, iTranslator, EboBirthday Contact Sync, CamScanner
Sep 12 -- ng-Mines, PicSay
Sep 14 -- Wikitude
Sep 17 -- [B]ALL APPS PRESENT!![/B]
Sep 20 -- 1Tap Cleaner, Aloqua, Andoku, CamScanner, Cyberlords, Easy Tie, Google Skymap, Klondike, Labyrinth, ng-Mines, PicSay, Puzzles
Sep 21 -- Guitar Hero, Open Sudoku
Sep 22 -- EboBirthday
Sep 24 -- Moved everything from the Media Area & [B]ALL APPS PRESENT![/B]
Oct 04 -- (4 extra apps??, following OTA update)
Just before the Sep 12th listing, I had to reset the Market app's Cache & Data to get it to load, at all.

WTH??

Edit: (Sept 14th) just checked on Wikitude in my phone. Its icon is missing from the App Drawer & it no longer shows up under Settings, Manage Applications. ng-Mines & PicSay are now present in both places.

I've noticed that some things seem to disappear from time to time. I had to hard reset my phone last week to get the market to even work. Now I get phantom notifications that apps need updating, but when I click the notification, not a single app shows that it needs an update.

So the other day, I cleared the cache and data for the market.

Today, the notification said two apps need updating, but only one app showed that it had an update.

Personally, I think someone's just messing with me

Ever since the Market's BIG Update, I've found that there have to be at least Two apps in need, before the interface will let me Update. Clicking on the Update Bar does nothing when it shows, 1 to Update.

Not only that, but opening a (supposedly) Updatable Single app's description page rarely has anything but the standard 'Open' & 'Uninstall' buttons. Although trying again, several hours later ~sometimes~ reveals an 'Update' button--this is an exception, not a rule! :(

This is exactly what happens to me, 3.0.27 market update is the glitchiest thing in the world.

I don't think you can do anything but try rebooting your phone and redownloading the apps.

I have problems with apps disappearing and reappearing, but from my phone, I haven't really checked the market to see if apps are disappearing from there. Currently, Google Authenticator can ONLY be found in the market. I can't find it in my apps on my phone at all. But when I bring up 'my apps' in the market, it is there and I can open it from there. But I can't find it on my phone? Other apps disappear from my phone and then reappear after I reboot.

Many times, I update an app, then next day it asks for same update even though I've done it. I update it again, but then the app stays there in the market stating it needs an update.
I've seen the same thing. Plus a lot of "invalid pagefiles" & false "out of disk space" errors.

I'm still tracking this problem & looking for a pattern. Nothing yet. It appears to be centered on apps stored in the internal SD. And so far, it's only affecting the Android Market's apps (& not Amazon's).

I posted in another thread about apps disappearing. The one I continually notice is Gas Buddy. I've downloaded it at least 4-5 times. Yesterday, needed gas, so I went to check prices, and it was gone again. Downloaded it again and used it yesterday. This morning? Gone again!

Who knows what else is gone...but this one app is the one I've noticed the most. If I go to the online market, it says I have it installed, but it's nowhere to be found on the phone, and the market on the phone says I don't have it.

if youre moving your downloaded apps/games and then moving them to the 12gb partition of the memory, you'll experience apps dissappearing. leave them on the 2gb part and you'll be fine.

That's the thing, I'm not re-downloading them. My phone is (through automatic updates, I think). And I'm not moving them. The apps, above, have always been stored on the internal SD.

When the Wikitude app disappeared from my phone on the 14th, I did nothing (I could have manually grabbed it, but didn't), other than approving some manual updates. By the 17th, the app had returned--to its former location on the SD.

I'm guessing that updating apps, which are already in the 2gb storage, sometimes corrupts them--so they vanish. But the Market's database still has them listed as installed--so they receive auto-updates & reappear. Maybe.

Still not sure this behavior is just limited to the insternal SD, tho...

That's why I'm tracking them.

Have you tried clearing your Market's cache & data? That fixed a couple of problems I was having with apps listed as "Uninstalled" & the Market's inability to store my "auto update" selections (corrupt Market database).

However, it didn't solve the disappearance/reappearance issue.

are you pre ota or do you have the ota installed?

if not, just wait for the ota and see if that fixes it.

As you can see from the dates, this was all pre-OTA.

On Sept 24th, I moved everything from the Media Area into the phone's own storage area. After which, apps ceased disappearing. The My Apps page showed a steady "146 apps" for about a week, until...I received the OTA update at the beginning of October.

Now the phone shows "150 apps" but the diff list hasn't changed (other than the Amazon Android store force-uploading its Kindle app). If the contents didn't change, then the market's tracking things differently now.

I haven't yet moved anything back to the phone's Media Area to test whether apps come up missing, post-OTA.

I have been seeing multiple "insufficient storage" or "invalid pkg file" error messages when updating via the market. This often happened when using update all, but only to some of the apps.

Rebooting and clearing market data and cache sometimes helped and sometimes not.

I tried moving apps to the "SD card" but that never seemed to make any difference.

After reading this thread and the earlier referenced Bionic thread, I moved everything back to "phone storage" (which is what I thought I was short on!) and disabled all "automatic updates" and finally cleared the market data and cache.

After a reboot, a check of "my apps" in the market produced a different list of apps that needed updates (different than only minutes before) and all the updates ran without error messages.

Until someone sorts all this out, I plan to install apps to the "phone" only.

Who wooda thunk it...

PS: I am rooted and have applied the OTA
