Root Having rooted issues..

So I just rooted my thunderbolt a few days ago, And I started using the bamf rom...Everything seemed ok at first, Running super smooth and fast..And then I got my first phone call..And the only option I had was to "END CALL"...There was no answer option, or pickup button..I had no idea how to answer the call!....So I decided to try a different rom..I gave the liquid ones a try..There's like 3 different ones..The first one seemed terribly unstable, The second kept force closing everything, And so I said screw it, went back to the BAMF rom..And still had the same call answer problem, And now I keep getting force closes on things and can't even get to my home screens..It just said there's a problem, force close and a white screen..And it just keeps doing that forever....

So my question is, What might be the problem I'm having, And what rom out there uses the gingerbread OS and is stable for the thunderbolt!?...

Ok, wow, I recovered my original working restore, And I'm suddenly getting the same old "HTC SENSE" Force close problems!...AHHH!, I'm going nuts! Please help!

Did you wipe when you flashed? This could be part of the force close issue, if you are getting them after wiping you may want to format /system as well

What all are you restoring with titanium backup? If you are restoring more than user apps and user app data it will cause issues as there will be differences as to which stock app each dev uses, even more so if you are going from sense to AOSP or vice versa

Gosh, I really am at a loss here, theres so much I just don't understand..I really only rooted to get rid of the bloatware.

As far as what I did, I did a complete wipe for each ROM I tried. And had issues every time...however, I did just try a new rom, the name I cant think of, I just remember the name "nightly" I dl'd it on pc and put it to memory card and installed it without wiping, and everything seems to be working well so far. No errors or forced closings...I just have this gut feeling that I'm missing something...I'm sure something will go wrong eventually...

When you wiped did you just do a factory reset in recovery? You need to wipe data as well as cache and dalvik cache, some roms also require you to format /system.

Also have you been checking MD5 sums of the roms before you install them? If not you should to make sure you are not trying to flash a corrupted file.

Hey sorry, quick off topic issue, but ever since I rooted and started using roms I've got this annoying issue with thousands of photos being added to my gallery...for example, ive got some stupid fish app and every single pic associated with that program is in my photo gallery...and freaking commercials being added to my video gallery! Wtf man! How do I get rid of all the pics and videos, and prevent them from showing up again!?..

i would suggest you take one step at a time

yeahha has give you some good advice: go to recovery and wipe data/cache/dalvik and format /system and resintall your rom. do not restore any system data with titanium backup.

ill bet youll find your rom runs much better after a "fresh install" as described above.

check out the "how to" sticky thread at the top of the forum for some more info on wiping,flashing roms,etc.

last and not least,the "thanks" button is an excellent way to show your appreciation for those whove taken the time to try and help you

I would also like to add to what everyone has said..once you do a fresh re-flash (wiping all data, cache and dalvick cache of course) and you still have the force close issue, you should install ROM manager and fix permissions. That can end almost all force closes, at least it has for me.

Also if you are using BAMF forever, or any BAMF rom in that case (I could be mistaken), you can just go to BAMF settings and select fix permissions there.

Oh I know..I NEVER use rom manager. This is just one easy way to fix permissions. I don't even have it installed on my phone now.. Its definitely can be one of the most dangerous apps to use

ok, so I'm checking out the clockwork wipe process like you said..And it says to pretty much do a factory reset..Which I'm kinda scared to do..Will i for sure get all my contacts and apps back when I re-flash the rom I have/want?..And if I do a backup and restore with clockwork wont I be right back where I started with the problems I'm currently having?...Sorry guys, i'm just a bit confused..As all newbs are

About the contacts part, if you have backup assistant, or have your contacts synced with the gmail account your phone has, you'll be able to easily re-add your contacts to your phone..Idk if thats the answer you were looking for though :/

Edit: And to answer your other question, YES. If you are flashing a new rom you ALWAYS wipe data, cache and dalvick cache, except in some cases when you are on a rom that says its okay to do a dirty flash. That way you know if something goes wrong its not because of not wiping data/cache. Hope this helps

To add to the above. Dalvik cache is in the advanced menu in CWM. Some roms may also require you to wipe /system which is in mounts and storage. I would only suggest doing a "dirty flash" if you are going to a newer version of the same rom you are using.

Ok, so I did the wipe, did a clean ROM install. Things seem to be running smoothly, however I still have the problem with tons of photos being added to my albums, like a thousand fish photos from some app I don't even have anymore, and my apps aren't reloading like they usually do...what can I do? I remember seeing something about a market fix...But I have no idea where I saw it, And haven't had reliable luck doing a search.. I'm running the new synergy rom.. "I think"...Are market problems usual with this rom?..And can anyone point me towards a fix if there is one!?...

Check your sd card and see if there is a file on their that has anything related to that one game. If so delete it and that will probably solve your problem

Doing a search now with file manager...Its from that stupid tap fish game!..

As far as my market issues go..I cant download or install facebook or the updates...And even though I see all my apps in the market, And can seem to download them individually "besides facebook thus far"..It's just a pain in the butt..And just doesn't seem like the market is working right..

I'm not sure if you stated this previously, but what ROM are you currently running?

^^Vanteal is running synergy

For some reason your rom is showing incompatible with facebook if you can't download it. Have you changed screen density? If you go to the android market website and log in then go to the app you want to download it will let you know if it is compatible or not.

Look for either a folder called tap fish or gameview studios as the source of the pictures. Once you find the folder just delete it and you wont be bothered with them.
