i just clicked on that and it took me to a screen for dropbox that gave me a error code. is there anywhere else i can up;oad this file?

well if you have access to a computer you can just run the exe ruu that is found in the http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ooting-dummies-guide-gingerbread-edition.html. just run the program on your computer and connect the phone to the pc when it tells you to and you will be good to go. i will see if i can hunt it down for you or make my own link.

ok cool i got it on my card so now im about to go ahead and make sure i sync all my new contacts and flash these. no need for wipe nothing because this phone is about to go back to sprint and i'll be activiating the new one now. thanks again!

the file is not flashed but used in hboot. also make sure that you wipe any apps and nandroid backups or any hint of rooting on your card.

oh ok so i should do a full wipe huh? well how about if i do a wipe and if there is anything left that may show root if i delete it off the card after i already changed it back to stock i should be ok right? basically i should just go through the sd card afterwards and delete all things pertaining to root.

well you will not need a wipe as you will not have a recovery to do so. but yes clean up your card and you should be good to go.

do you have a card reader?

edit: also you still have recovery there should be a usb toggle depending on what recovery you have.

ok so i turned s-on now it's not letting me flash the pc36img.zip file what do i do now?? can i just flash the back up of the stock rom that i have in my backups?

it needs to be named PC36IMG and not pc36img Linux systems see these as two different things so make sure you have all uppercase and make sure you have only 1 .zip extension and not .zip.zip

I assume your trying to unroot....

If your still having problems after following the above post go back to the gingerbread rooting for dummies guide and download the RUU exe from the unrooting section. Its below everything else in red font. Hook your computer up to USB and let that do its thing.

Just make sure your computer doesnt sleep while its doing it.

what should i name the file? it's named exactly what you sent to me. it says install aborted... and as far as toggle goes i see toggle signature and toggle scritp asserts. what do i chose. should the file only be named PC36IMG..... nothing else behind it? like supersonic etc. ?
does it say that when you try it in hboot? in other words it scans for it, you then say yes to update and then it aborts? have you tried to redownload the file?
i have a question i have a back up of the old rom in my backs. can i just flash that to go back to normal . i already have s-on now i just need the hboot.

if you still have a custom recovery you can try and flash a stock rom. if you want to go that route then flash this:[ROM][STOCK][Rooted] 4.53.651.1 - Odexed & De-Odexed

ok so im out now but when i get back to my office i will try these steps. I dont think i use all upper case letters either but i will try that. and yes Ocnbrze i do have a backup of the actual stock rom that the phone came wit. i backed it up before i flashed the custom ROM. but you say i should flash the one you sent me, ok ill do that. should i just do that instead of flashing the PC36IMG file? or do i still have to flash that then a stock ROM?

i would try the PC36IMG file and make sure you use caps on the lettering. it needs to be exactly as i have it. just rename it by deleting everything in the name but PC36IMG. and like i said do not add an extra zip.

also the one i linked you is from the latest ota we just had. either way may work.
