Nearly at the end of the rooting process but have hit a wall, I am on the black screen with green writing and it has a list of options

Reboot System Now
Apply SD card: Update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
install zip from sd card
back up and restore
mounts and storage
advanced

Where do I go from here????? help please

Right back up is now complete although during the process it said I had 3700mb available now its done it says zero on the sd card. Just tried to download an app and tried to force it to the sd card but does not want to play ball saying insufficient memory

this isnt what rooting does, forcing apps can be done without root
a2sd+ requires partitions

im afraid your confusion on what to do is because you have not read our guides thoroughly and rushed into it

im not being horrible by saying this but its very important you read them as it will answer nearly all of you questions

Rushed into it? if planning it for the past 3 months is rushing then guilty as charged. I followed the instructions to the letter and only at the very final stage did I encounter a problem. O'h well guess its not going to be any use for me.

it will be, but if you waited 3 months and researched it you would/should have read our guides which explains what rooting does and what the differences between a2sd, froyo apps 2 sd and gingerbread apps 2 sd.

the rooted solution is far better however its not as simple as just rooting, you have to create an ext partition as per our guides using gparted and then flashing a rom that supports an a2sd+ solution

its all clearly documented

dont be annoyed that we expect you to read the guides, weve spent alot of time tweaking them and SUroot is constantly updating them with the latest and most accurate information we find over time to make sure you get the best advise

the point of these guides are to get you to understand what you are doing, if you dont understand what you are doing then problems become apparent and you wont know how youve caused them.

:D hi guys.

must admit i did some reading before i took the leap, but still forgot to do the
gparted bit! doh! silly me :) but miui xj still good and space not too low. approx 30mb left internal. it was the gparted bit the confused me most before, so must have blocked it from my mind :D

so sounds like the OP is in similar place to me. just need to do gparted and then push the apps to sd, id they dont auto move. think there is a script to force em

cheers

when you install apps they auto install to ext, it looks like internal memory. with miui it generally needs to be set up right before you put the apps on not after
