10/03/11 - This overclocking kernel is falling out of date compared to the recent fixes Ticker Guy has made to CM7. FFC will not work if you flash this kernel. This kernel does not include any of the latest modifications and improvements beyond the late September build. Use at your own discretion...

This is my attempt at putting Isaac`s last CM7 OC kernel into an flashable zip to flash over tickerguy`s 9/20 build of cm7. I just flashed this over mine and I can now overclock on Ticker`s ROM! USE AT OWN RISK. MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY before proceeding with flashing this.I pulled the the BOOT.img and placed it into a flashable payload. Report back your results. Thanks!

I pulled the the BOOT.img and placed it into a flashable payload. I`m not sure what other things are in the boot.img that may break anything or if it is just the kernel. I just wanted to try the overclocking portion with Ticker`s GPS build. Report back your results. Thanks!

Yes, that's all I was going to do. The boot image found in my last build is current against TG's latest build. It should stay like that for awhile.

Should I ever find time to add more cool stuff, like extra governors or whatnot, I'll provide an update boot image.

Wow cool. Glad I did it right then. Everything is cruising along since I flashed it. I`d love to see the extra governors down the line (scary, smartass, etc). Thanks again for blazing the trail Isaac!

There's only one thing that confuses me about using the boot image from my build with TG's latest, technically, it shouldn't even work. The init in my boot image mounts everything with ext4. I don't remember TG adding ext4 support into his builds, yet.

I thought he had added support but hadn`t done anything with it yet? is that right? I don`t remember where I saw him reference ext4. Too many threads on too many sites...

I think that not only did ticker add ext4 support in the latest build, but he even said the next build after 9/20 would actually set itself up with ext4 partitions. Awesome all around.

This kernel seems to work fantastic so far:

Quadrant scores:

Tg's kernel from 9/20 @ 1 ghz: 2040
Issac's oc kernel @ 1 ghz: 2320
Issac's oc kernel @ 1.5 ghz: 3195

I happen to have one of those triumphs that won't go above 1.5ghz and be any sort of stable... :-D

Thanks to Isaac for the kernel and streetpounder for packaging it up for us! Awesome!

Thanks for this! Flashed to TG this morning, worked fantastic, great battery life improvement and this was the topping. The ability to 'crank it up' when needed, and increase the throttling.

2056 TG @ 1 GHz
2424 OC TG @ 1GHz
2997 OC TG @ 1.5GHz
3410 OC TG @ 1.9GHz (for kicks)

Hope to see more add ons and governors, and more so looking forward seeing how heat dissipation is at with these things over clocked.

Remember you shouldn't even need setcpu under cm7.... Cm7 will let you tweak the cpu speeds and governors in the performance tweaks section under cm settings. :)
i know this but i must say that from what i've seen SetCPU actually controls the cpu a lot better then the standard cpu setting window in cm7. i noticed dramatic increases on quadrant of about 500-600 points when using SetCPU compared to just cm7's standard settings, and the fact that SetCpu allows for profiles, which i have all of mine set up and my battery lost 5% over the course of 9 hours while i slept last night and i left my phone unplugged purposely.... i use juice defender and have my internet set to cut off while my phone is asleep and come back on once an hour to refresh things like weather and facebook...... all in all i do believe SetCPU is the way to go with this. oh and one other thing dealing with this. if you do use this over TG's build of CM7 you will not be able to use MSS Calmping for tethering since it is kernel specific and TG's kernel include's it, but sadly enough this one does not...... yet. just saying..... hope all this helps

edit: on my profiles i have my main set to 1.7 max 2.45 min. when screen is off it drops to 1ghz max 245 min.
