Root Amon Ra v 2.3 will create back ups, but not restore

I am running CyanogenMod 7 on my Evo 4G. Today I did a back up using the default selections of Amon Ra v 2.3. After backing up, and playing with a different ROM, Amon Ra will not restore my back up, or any of my 3 previous back ups.

I flashed back to ClockworkMod and it can restore my CWD nandroids just fine.

I'm stuck on not being able to restore from my Amon Ra back ups. I tried reading the log, but copying the log to SD card failed also.

I keep getting the frustratingly useless error "oops something went wrong, check the recovery log".

Using ADB, I tried going to /tmp and there is no such directory. I then went to /Cache/Recovery and there is no log.

I'm stuck right now trying to figure out how to get Amon Ra to restore my nandroid. I flashed back and forth between CWD and Amon Ra, and still has not helped.

Any ideas?

are you naming your nandroids? if so you might have named them incorrectly. you cant use spaces or any weird symbols in the name.

I didn't name the nandroids - just let Amon Ra name them.

However, I tried copying the nandroid to another microSD card, and the recovery worked!!!

It's bizarre that the Amon Ra recovery won't work on my old 16GB SD class 4 card, while CWD would recover. But on a 1 GB SanDisk SD class 2 card, the Amon Ra recovery worked!!!

These things are so tough to figure out without experimentation. The Amon Ra is not making the error clear to the user as to what may be wrong. :(

EDIT: funny...these things are so finicky. After getting Amon Ra to restore my last nandroid, tried flashing back to CWD on my 1 GB microSD card and it wouldn't work. Thought I was scewed. Then I googled, and found that some reason the bootloader requires at least a 8 gb sd card. So put in back my old 16GB card and was able to flash back to CWD.

Much patience is required....and lots of google fu, and spare SD cards... :(
