Root anyone can help me root my DHD hir my ssoftware

My device info of AMT shows the below information of my DHD:

Device Model: Desire HD
Bootloader Version: 0.85.0024 SHIP HBOOT
Radio Version: 26.09.04.11_M2
ROM Version: 2.42.415.1
Android Version: 2.3.3
CID: HTC__J15
Can anybody please tell me what do i have to do to downgrade and root??
i'd like to install the MIUI rom, but i'm new to this rooting business and i'd really appreciate anybody's help.

If you have a branded phone and it is sim locked meaning you can only use your networks sim in the phone then yes you need a goldcard.

Oh and yes you will be able to put cyanogenmod on after you are rooted so long as you follow the guides that I have linked you to. I have rooted my phone the ROM I am using is in my signature.

when i rooted my phone im gonna install your signature) i such a noob person i dont have idea for rooted ive tried some gingerbreakk to root my phone its all fail( hope someone teach me step by step so that i can follow or any video ... so i have branded phone?? and when i check some forum my build number is high thats why i should wait for new updated downgrade to root my phone...do you facebook or any account for fast instruction what i will do first..i dont any idea what i do next because ..what is temproot blah blah...maybe it brick my phone( thanks for the time Mr.stublake .

But yes, your firmware's build number means you are running firmware that can only be temp rooted. So what you need to do is downgrade to older firmware which can be permanently rooted. Right from the 'Temp Root' section at the start to the 'How to Flash recovery with ClockworkMod' one at the end. Feel free to ask any questions about the process here though. Like with gingerbreak - what went wrong specifically?

SO do i need to do goldcard first because i bought this phone to vodaphone and im just wanna root my phone to erase some application on the phone so that i can increase my battery life..

In theory then just getting temp root on your current firmware would be enough to remove bloatware from your phone. No goldcards or downgrading required.

However... I have only ever heard people talk about temp rooting 2.3 in the context of downgrading. I don't know if that means anything or not though.

Hi I,m like you when i first started very confused and no idea how to root my branded DHD, but with the help of Xyro,Stub,El P,and the guide from Cubz I managed to root my DHD. The first thing to do if your phone is branded is to downgrade.Downgrade:


1. Create a goldcard:

2. Download Goldcard Helper from Android Market

3. Open Goldcard Helper with the SDCard in the phone, and you will see the mmc2 reverse CID

Note: Do not use the Copy feature in the app as this will copy the wrong CID!

2. connect your phone as "charge only" and have usb debugging enabled
3. navigate the command prompt to the downgrade folder.
4. Type the following command:

5. Select and copy the cid

12. In the goldcard image tab, go to 'Edit' > 'Select All' and then 'Edit' >'Copy'

13. In the 'Removable Disk' tab, highlight offset (line) 00000000 to offset (line) 00000170 including the 00000170 line and go to 'Edit' menu > 'Paste Write'

14. Click 'File' > 'Save' and accept any warning that you get

Just back up everything on the current SD Card and you can use that. Be warned that not all SD Cards can be made gold cards so you may need to try another one if the current one doesn't work.

how do i backup my sd card,,can i copy my all files?? to my computer and format it..or i will use an apps for back up...sorry for more question..tnX

CD Plant used it here and confirmed it works no problem. The dev also posted in the thread and says it works with the DHD too.

As per the thread that El Presidente linked, the tool creates a goldcard itself - as in it is working for branded handsets - so no need for you to do that yourself!

Sorry - sent the message before I left for work this morning. I am now in work and only check this site from time to time. In the thread that's linked, it says that the tool only takes 5 mins to root though... I haven't used the tool (I rooted months ago using one of the ADB methods, as I rooted from Froyo), so don't know how much help I would actually be! The tool is, I believe, a one click that does everything for you...

I tried this tool yesterday (made a thread on it) and I am branded to Three UK (though not anymore ) and it worked perfectly.

I used OSX, unzipped the file to my desktop, opened a terminal window and ran the script. All I had to do was have the phone plugged in (charge only, USB debugging on) and follow the instructions on the script. Press one button and it does it all for you 5 Minutes later the phone reboots to the main screen and you're all done
