Online Storage referral thread - ONLY post them HERE

Not sure if this has been said before, but if anyone has an .edu email, you can get double the free space(up to 16gb) on dropbox. Just have to put the email in https://www.dropbox.com/edu and verify it.

I did it yesterday, it works retroactively on your already accepted referrals as well.

THAT IS AWESOME!!!! I just got an extra 8gigs!!!!!!!

Thanks you!!!

I myself own multiple computers, a tablet, and a phone (both android of course :p)and i find it very tiresome to transfer files between them all using micro sd cards and thumb drives. So i started using Dropbox and i find it so much more convinent. So I thought I'd write up a little guide on how to get some extra space for your account.

First you'll need to go to THIS LINK and sign up for a free Dropbox account. This will give you 2GB of storage and you'll recieve an extra 250MB just for using the link i provided.

Next go to THIS LINK and complete a couple simple task, such as tweeting about dropbox, to recieve another 640MB of storage.

Then go to THIS LINK and complete a few more easy task, like installing dropbox on your computer, to get an extra 250MB of space.

And if you want to go the extra mile and recieve even more space, you can start referring people to join dropbox and you will get 250MB (500MB if you are a studentLEARN MORE for each person you refer.

Now you can enjoy your new cloud drive ;).

Another little thing I found on dropbox to get free space, aside from the "Get Started" steps, and extra space from edu emails; You can get more space by going to https://www.dropbox.com/free and linking it with your twitter and facebook accounts.

Not sure if that was posted here, or is wide known, but I didn't know about that till today. lol (was trying to get more free space sense referrals rarely come. :p )

Yeah it says max 8GB but you can go up to 16GB via friend invites. Like I said, google Oracle Virtualbox. The other space I got by completing the following:

1. https://www.dropbox.com/gs
2. https://www.dropbox.com/login?cont=https://www.dropbox.com/free
3. https://www.dropbox.com/edu

First link gives you 256MB free space.
Second link gives you 128MB for each task completed (twitter, facebook, etc)
Third link gives you 500MB for each referral. But wait (what about my previous referrals? It is retroactive meaning, you'll automatically double your referral space.

Help me with my sugar sync if you can

Sugarsync is giving me problems today (syncing Win -> Win is fine, but a bigger folder Win -> Mac is a no go). Still, I'll still stick with it as long as it doesn't limit the free space from referrals. Dropbox maxes out at around 18 GB educational. (18.5 gb?)

And sugarsync has an online archive so some things could be stored in there without taking up space on actual computers. I share folders with friends and we don't always want to keep copies of everyone's folders in our home directories, just quickly access them online sometimes.

I think I missed the boat. I hope somebody would click this: http://db.tt/RSxTep5
Dropbox just saved me a lot of trouble of copying files - its LAN sync works really great!

How does the LAN sync work? I might be moving from one computer to another soon and this would be very useful. I already have everything important stored in my dropbox anyway but was thinking I'd have to let the computer download for like 3 days straight, lol.

Just a heads up to anyone who hasn't already read about it, but Sugarsync has added a significant new feature to it's Android app. Now,every photo you take on your android phone will be automatically backed up to a specified folder on your computer and the web. They are also offering a very friendly 5GB storage now to new sign ups.

I feel the photo upload feature is something which gets one over Dropbox majorly and Im seriously considering jumping ship.

Anyways, heres my Sugarsync referral link too if anyone is interested in having a look at Sugarsync. Sign ups through this link will give both myself and yourself an added 500MB of storage.

Peace. x
