Android for HP TouchPad?

cmtouchpad - Android port for HP Touchpad - Google Project Hosting

Issues - cmtouchpad - Android port for HP Touchpad - Google Project Hosting

A new bug has been found... airplane mode: issue 28 (Air Plane mode sticks) reported by daling...@gmail.com

I hope they get the airplane mode fixed. The Nook Color has the same problem and if you turn on airplane mode, then turn it off, it stays on after a reboot. They had a fix for it a couple times, but then backed out last minute.

So if you turn on airplane mode, even for just a second, every time you reboot you have to turn wireless on again. It takes an adb command to fix it by deleting the entry in a database.

O/W I read BlueTooth support is finished.

BTW, one of the primary reasons I bought a tablet - for sharing photos with family and friends - is seriously diminished by some HP programmer's ridiculous decision to allow photo sorting only by last modified date in the photo app.

You've gotta be kidding me. I sucked it up and bought SlideRSS from the WebOS market, which works somewhat but is not a photo viewing app and only works really if you want to see a whole slideshow, since you can't view a grid of photos and select one.

Go, Android, go!

I haven't done an update for a few days....

From: Build Progress [Updated 9/30]

Fixed Issues
No root access (Fixed 9/30)

IRC Logs:
<@dalingrin> fwiw, i don't plan to wait until everything is perfect before we release <-- :D
<@dalingrin> just want to shore up a few problems first

<@fattire> you can use wifi, but something called "combo scan" needs to be added to it to get it to rescan/reconnect if it drops.. also I think there may be some kernel issue w/it at the moment..

<@ciwrl> they are already focusing on delivery mechanisms (ease of install)
<@ciwrl> we'll be doing the dual boot as well

<@dalingrin> we have HP's kernel but unfortunately HP tries to do everything in userspace
<@dalingrin> many of the drivers were missing
<@dalingrin> and what drivers are there are for the wierd firmwares HP used
<@dalingrin> for example: our touchscreen has a very capable controller..literally top of the line
<@dalingrin> but HP uses a firmware that pretty much disables the controller
<@dalingrin> and they process in userspace instead
<@dalingrin> (on cpu)
<@dalingrin> many of these funky userspace drivers/libs cause slowdowns as well

Hmmm.... multiboot is finished now too. :D

I suspect they need stability like the battery warning fixed so it doesn't ruin batteries and an easy to install procedure that doesn't brick.

This is what they're working on, which with the exception of the camera, I would think need to be finished before release:

Fast Switch Boot (Going from webos to android, and vice versa)

Power Management (Needs to be adapted to a supported android interface, having trouble with sleep)
Camera (Has video feedback VIA overlay, can't capture to disk) (Work started 9/23)
Clockwork Recovery (Started 9/30)
