What are some options to edit the Battery shutdown time or extend the battery life of the motorola Triumph.

I guess the issue is when it gets to red instantly it shuts off Other phones I have had shut off like 20 minutes after getting to red. How can I edit the shut off time or can I?

Seriously? Well, my settings (on CM7) are as follows:
Wifi sleep policy: sleep on lock/wake on unlock
data: sleep on lock/wake on unlock
Sync: off
background data: off
brightness: auto/40%
I have a sync now shortcut on my homescreen (widgetsoid) that I hit when I want my email to come through.
Note that I also use juice defender ultimate, for like 3 times the battery life(according to it)
I would recommend loading up CM7, the battery life is noticeably better, for instance, if I am not using my phone for 4 hours(from a 100% charge) I'll come back to a 93% charged phone(without juice defender)

Doesn't juice defender have that problem of turning off your 3g...and never turning it on again? That's why I disabled mine.

sounds like you might need to recalibrate the battery. i'm not sure of the proper way to do it, but i think booting into recovery and running out the battery resets it.

1 If you're experiencing higher than normal battery drain, try the following: Charge the phone to full battery; let it keep charging until the battery says it is fully charged. Do not wait until the light is green, it isn't always fully charged, causing a lot of inaccuracies.
(You can check by going to: Settings -> About Phone -> Status -> Battery Level = Full.)
2 Boot to recovery mode and wipe battery stats in recovery
3 Immediately reboot, and once you have access to the launcher, unplug the phone.
4 Do not charge the phone until after draining the battery completely, resulting in it automatically shutting off.
5 Recharge and use your phone as normal.

Load up bugs just to get better battery life is not a great answer to this problem,some people like 100% working phone,then being a beta tester,to a ROM developer.and i can see there is still a lot of bugs on the CM7 port.

You might just have bad battery life from having poor reception. With the phone unplugged, go to Settings, About Phone, Battery Use, Cell Standby, and check Time Without Signal.

If your TWS is high, that's why you are having poor battery life on the phone.

It shuts down at 6 or 7 percent, you can even test it, use it till it supposedly dies, it will shutoff, then try to power it back on not connected to a charger. It will power back on, saying it have 6 or 7 percent left, also, it dont instantly shuts off, as soon as it turns red. It last like 7 to 12 minutes. Try undervolting to the max 368 and 245 min, powersaver or ondemand, with deadline. You can do this with no frill cpu control with umph kernel installed.
Also fully recalibrating battery, along with a custom ROM helps.

I need real time access to my info....I don't want to have to turn something on/off in order for it to come through...when I unlock my phone I want see updates in the notification bar, but that's just me. Everywhere I go I plug my MT in to charge and I always have my XPal charger and battery in my camera bag which goes everywhere with me. Seems like you go through a lot of work to keep the MT running. Motorola really dropped the phone with this phone

Try recalibrating the battery... It's just not that bad, unless you are beta-testing GPS.

quite right, having that stuff turned off reduces my phone to little else than a dumbphone, but if i don't have a charger handy, I would rather be able to call and text all day then to be able to play angry birds and browse facebook and the web for only a few hours.... Admitedly, the battery does suck, because I used to be able to get like a day and a half out of my optimus with data left on... oh well, life.

how do you boot to recovery mode on an unrooted phone?

I apologize; I can get into the recovery mode, but I can't seem to find any advanced options with the stock ROM. Maybe there is a way - but I haven't found it yet.

Root your phone and download the newest clockwork mod recovery for it

I'm on CM7 with no extra power saving settings and my phone will last atleast 24 hours. There aren't that many bugs in CM7. I use it daily.

For a 300 dollar phone i want everything to work 100% not having any radio issues at all,you may not use any of the features of the phone,does not mean someone else does,this is not a solution at all,always voids out the warranty,and seeing the quality control on the triumph is still in question,i would like to know i can get another phone free of charge at least for 1 year.this part of this forum is for basic issues,not rooting and Roms,i pay 300 dollars for something i should not have to modify it in anyway to get somethings to work better.or at all.

1. I am wondering what radio issues you are referring to? It may be the network coverage in your area, and not the phone itself. As I have not experienced these issues.

2. What features are they missing that you need/want? Most (but not all) are resolved on the custom ROMS. Half the people reporting bugs did something themselves to cause it, it isn't necessarily the ROM.

3. You can reset your phone to the exact same state as you bought it and return it without anyone knowing any better. I wouldn't do this if you did something to mess your phone up, but with a hardware issue I would have no qualms.

4. I have less issues with my phone than most people I know do with their new android phones (mostly because I know what the hell I am doing, while they do not). Those phones are only cheaper because you sign a contract, and some of them are even comparably priced after the rebates and all that fun stuff.

5. Yes this phone can have some issues, but so does every phone and if you leave everything on (3g/wifi, sync every minute, gps, bluetooth, whatever else you can think of) you are going to have battery problems regardless of the phone.

6. If you want something to work better, you will have to modify things (not necessarily root your phone or custom ROMs). I haven't seen a phone that comes perfect straight out of the box.

I just loaded the 10/25 build of CM7 from Tickerguy the other day, and I just got nearly 30 hours out of a charge. I use Juice defender, and mainly use my cell phone to check/send emails and texts, and make a couple of calls. Still many glitches since it is a alpha build, but it has been working great so far.

JuiceDefender is my go-to when it comes to saving battery... it just makes sense. I don't (usually) need my data running when my phone's screen is off, it's that simple. If I didn't connect to a wifi network, I don't want my device scanning for one!

It's the same reason the GPS doesn't stay on 24/7 when my phone is on. If it's not doing something productive, I don't need it. Hell, I'll check my mail when I want to. It wastes data AND it's annoying to get push notifications unless they're really ultra-important.

FWIW I downloaded battery monitoring widget and used it for a few days and noticed otherwise decent battery time i eas enjoying previously was now horrific. I've uninstalled it and will see if the decent runtime for my usage returns...

Update: after removing the monitoring widget, battery run-time has improved. After 5hours, only down 7-10%.

Sounds like one you don't want to use

I used to use Battery Indicator, it does logging too (or at leas, the Pro version does). And given its documentation, it doesn't use very much of the battery in the process either.

After Rooting my Triumph and removing all the Virgin Mobile apps and installing Juice Defender Root my battery will make it through the day. Phone made it about 10-12 hours prior to doing those things. Also ran a Root app called Battery Calibrator that removes any memory/history files the next time the phone is charged to 100%. I don’t know if this app helped as I did all these things in one sitting so I can’t tell you which of the above things doubled my battery life but the review I read before doing the Battery Calibration said those who did not allow their battery to die completely and then charge to 100% on the phones first battery cycle out of the box will notice the most difference. I will tell you this though, was not a happy camper after purchasing my Triumph at all whatsoever but after Rooting, removing bloatware, installing Auto Killer in place of a task killer and using an app called SD-Booster witch allows you to up the SD card Cache from 128 to 512 my Triumph has been running circles around some of the higher end phones owned by friends and co-workers. I am not going to pretend that I know what the things listed above are doing exactly but I do know that since doing those things it’s like I own a completely different phone. Maybe someone can help me out with this question but could Virgin Mobile have messed this phone up that much that I would see such a difference in performance by doing the above things? It’s been about three weeks now and I could not possibly express in words how my opinion has changed regarding my Triumph as three weeks ago the thing was about to go swimming with the fish and now you would have a hard time ripping it from my cold dead hand. Sorry, I tend to rant.
